Mr. Leon Davis
Mr. Leon Wayne Da
vis, age 85, of the Long
Pond Community, died on
Monday, February 8, 2021,
at his home after a sudden
illness.
Mr. Davis was a native
of Montgomery County
and lived there most of
his life. He was owner/op
erator of Leon Davis Con
struction, a farmer, and a
superintendent pipefitter/
welder. He w,
was a U.S. 1H1&
eran and a \
member of '
Lott’s Creek
Church of God. He was
preceded in death by his
wives, Marie Cartright
Davis and Cleopra Griffin
Davis; 2 sons, LeWayne
“Peebo” Davis and Billy

bia Dixon Davis; 1 brother,
James Hiram “Jimmy” Da

Mr. Howard Sharpe
Mr. Lawrence Howard
Sharpe, age 87, died Sat
urday, January 9, 2021, in
Harris Methodist Hospital
in Fort Worth, Texas, after
a brief illness. He was born
September 8, 1933, in the
Rock Springs Community
in Toombs County, Geor
gia, to Lawrence and Ola
Sharpe and was a lifelong
resident of Toombs Coun
ty. He made his home in
Lyons in 1943 and was the
youngest of ten siblings,
all of whom have passed
on. Two sis
ters, Chris
tine Odum
and Leola
Williams,
also resided
in Toombs
County.
Howard was a 1950
graduate of Lyons High
School and proudly served
our country as a U.S. Ma
rine. He later earned an
associate degree from
Brewton-Parker College
in 1971. He began work
ing as a young boy of 13
with Melvin Page of Page’s
Department Store and was
a loyal and dedicated em
ployee with more than fifty
years of service when the
business closed in 1998.
Howard proudly
served his community for
many years through civic
organizations and leader
ship roles, including past
President of the Lyons
Jaycees and nineteen years
as a Lyons City Council
Member from 1969 until
1988. He was especially
fond of his involvement
with the Lyons Recreation
Committee and the devel
opment of Partin Park. In
1981 he received the hon
or of Lyons Citizen of the
Year for his devotion to his
community. In later years,
he served on the first board
of directors of Southeast
ern Technical Institute.
Howard was a kind
and gentle soul with a
friendly and quiet manner.
He loved to do crossword
puzzles and enjoyed study
ing history and watching
college football games. He
was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Lyons,
where he previously taught
Sunday School.
Howard is survived
by his bride of sixty years,
Selena (Pope), and their
two children, Lawrence
“Larry” Howard Sharpe,
Jr., and wife Sheri (Stacy)
of Weatherford, Texas, and
Leigh Sharpe Coffield and
husband John of Cordova,
Tennessee; three grand
children, Captain Casey
Sharpe, USAF, Tuscon, Ar
izona, Eric Sharpe and wife
Katie( Flachsbart) of Fort
Worth, Texas, and Kather
ine Coffield of Knoxville,
Tennessee; one great-
granddaughter, Evelyn

sudden illness.
Mrs. Mosley was a na

where she grew up. She
moved to Brunswick in the
early 1960s and returned
to Toombs County in the
early 1990s. She worked
with Brunswick Manufac

tries for many years. She

Mr. Bernard Moxley
Mr. Bernard Moxley,
age 86, of Vidalia, died
on Saturday, February 13,
2021, in the Community
Hospice House in Vidalia.
Mr. Moxley was a 1951
graduate of Montgom
ery County High School
and lived in Vidalia most
of his life. He retired after
56 years of service from
Threlkeld Motors. He was a
member of Vidalia Baptist
Temple, where he served
as an usher for many years.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Wauline Brad-
dy Moxley; his parents,
Chess and Della Hughes
Moxley; and 1 sister, June
Moxley Davis.
Survivors include 1
son, Jerry Moxley and wife
Christy, and 2 grandchil
dren, Addison Fisher and
fiancee Millicent Frost,

Mr. Wayne Brantley
Mr. Wayne Brantley,
age 70, of the Cedar Cross
ing Community, died on
Wednesday, February 10,
2021, in Meadows Plealth
in Vidalia after a brief ill
ness.
Mr. Brantley was a na
tive of Toombs County, liv
ing in Tattnall County 13
years and in Cedar Crossing
most of his life. He worked
as a correctional officer at
Georgia State Prison for
several years, transferred
to the Georgia State Patrol
as a license examiner, later
as a trooper with the Geor
gia State Patrol and retired
after 30 years. He started
the first rural fire depart
ment in Toombs County,
serving as chief for many
years, and was a member
of the Toombs County Fire
Association. He served on
three different boards of di
rectors at Meadows Health
in Vidalia and was instru
mental in starting the first
rural EMS station in the
county. He was a member
of Inman Creek Masonic
Lodge #491, past President
of Quint Shrine Club and
former member of Alee
Shrine in Savannah. He
was a member of the Uval
da Church of God. He was
preceded in death by his
parents, Denton Brantley
and Eliza Geiger Brantley,
and 1 sister, Faith Brantley.
Survivors include his
wife of 50 years, Bonnie
Dykes Brantley, and 2 sons,
Richard Brantley and wife
Pam, and Denton Brantley,
Jr., and wife Suzanne, all of
Cedar Crossing; 1 brother,
Billy Brantley and wife Pam

Mr. Marcus Jerald “Jer
ry” Brazell, 76, of Vidalia,
died on Sunday, February
7, 2021, at Appling Health
Care System in Baxley after
a lengthy illness.
Mr. Brazell was a resi
dent of Vidalia for the past
40 years and was a former
longtime resident of Reids-
ville. He served in the U.S.
Army, followed by a career
as a correctional officer
with the State Prison Sys
tem, eventually becoming
