Obituaries
Mr. Chris Matheson
Mr. James Christopher
“Chris” Matheson, age 73,
of Sylvania, died on Mon
day, July 19, 2021, at his
home with his family at his
side.
Mr. Matheson was
born in Lyons. He gradu
ated from Lyons High
School in 1965 and gradu
ated from the University of
Georgia with
a Bachelor
of Science in
Pharmacy in
1972. He was
a member of
Alpha Tau
Omega Fraternity at UGA
(1967-1971) and was a
member of the Rho Chi
Pharmacy Honor Society.
He served in the Georgia
Army National Guard, he
was an intern in Cairo in
1972-73, moved to Sylva
nia in 1973 and owned and
operated Sylvania Drugs
from 1975 until his retire
ment in 1997. He was a
member of Sylvania First
Baptist Church and was
also a member of the Syl
vania Lions Club, where he
was past president in 2012-
13. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Julius
Daniel and Maxine Eliza
beth Tucker Matheson;
and his twin brother, John
Charles “Chip” Matheson.
Survivors include
his wife, Rosalyn Clifton
Matheson of Sylvania; 2
daughters and sons-in-law,
Christy Lynn and Brandon
Myhand of Hoschton and
Marcie and Max McGill
of Gainesville; 1 sister and
brother-in-law, Deanne M.
and Jim Gebhard of Evans;
1 brother and sister-in-law,
Bense and Judy Matheson
of Todd, NC; 1 sister-in-
law, Peggy Matheson of
Vidalia; 6 grandchildren,
Emma Tucker Myhand,
Will Myhand and Walker
Myhand, all of Hoschton,
and Mason McGill, Mad-
elyn McGill and Marilane
McGill, all of Gainesville;
and several nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will be held
on Saturday, July 24, 2021,
from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.,
at Sylvania First Baptist
Church Family Life Cen
ter, followed by the funeral
service at 4:00 p.m., with
Dr. Charlie Cooper offi
ciating. Burial will follow
on Sunday, July 25, 2021,
at 2:00 p.m., at Lyons City
Cemetery, 161 NE Broad
Street, Lyons, GA 30436.

Mr. A.B. Albritton, age
100, of Vidalia, died Sun
day, July 18, 2021, at his
home after a brief illness.
Mr. Albritton was born
in Newberry, SC, a gradu
ate of Newberry High
School, and moved to Vi
dalia in 1949. He retired af
ter 37 years from BellSouth
as a technician. He was a
charter mem
ber and dea
con of Smith
Street Baptist
Church and
member the
Alby Gay
Sunday School Class. He
was a U.S. Army veteran
of World War II, serving in
the 107th Battalion and the
101st Battalion. He served
in the Pacific Theater, in
cluding Australia, New
Guinea, and Papua. He was
a member of the American
Legion and the VFW in Mt.
Vernon. He was a member
of the Telephone Pioneers,
Campers on Mission, Vi
dalia Masonic Lodge #302,
and was a volunteer with
Community Hospice. He
was a long-time supporter
of the American Red Cross
and had donated numerous
gallons of blood. He was
preceded in death by his
first wife, Leta Mae Shu
man Albritton; 1 daughter,
Linda Reaves; his parents,
Kemper Albritton and Lula
Bell Dickertt Albritton;
and 3 brothers, Malcolm
Albritton, Otto Albritton,
and Earl Albritton.
His family includes his
wife of 26 years, Marjorie
W. Albritton of Vidalia; 5
stepchildren, Sonya Chap
in and husband John of Mt.
Vernon, Diana Cross and
husband Philip of Franklin,
Suzanna Johnson and hus
band Steven of Duncan,
SC, Diane Nelson and hus
band John of Burton, OH,
and Stephen A. Markham
and wife Oksana of Taco
ma, WA; 2 grandchildren,
Mandy Reaves Harris and
husband Ronald of Vida
lia, and Randy Reaves and
wife Margie of Vidalia; and
numerous other grandchil
dren, great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
The funeral service
will be held on Friday, July
23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in
the chapel of Ronald V.
Hall Funeral Home, with
Pastor David Barrett offici
ating. Burial will follow in
Pinecrest Cemetery with
Military Honors.
The family will receive
friends at the funeral home
on Friday morning from
10:00 until just prior to the
service.

Pursuant to O.C.G.A.
§15-12-10, if “any person
is duly summoned to ap
pear as a trial or grand ju
ror at court and neglects
or refuses to appear, or if
any juror absents himself
or herself without leave
of the court, such neglect,
refusal, or absence may, af
ter notice and hearing, be
punished as contempt of
court”. Said person could
be sentenced to up to 20
days in jail and incur a fine
of up to $1,000.00, at the
discretion of the presiding
judge.
