VHS
continued from page 1B
Vinson came through
with a hit into left field
that scored Starr to tie
the game at 1-1.
Jeff Davis loaded the
bases in the top of the
fifth but there were two
outs. Harris got the next
batter to fly out to right
field to end the threat.
Vidalia loaded the
bases again in the bottom
of the fifth inning, but
couldn’t come through
with a hit as they left
them loaded for the sec
ond time in the game. In
the bottom of the sixth
inning the Indians finally
went on top. Vinson
walked to lead off, and
Robinson followed with
a triple to put the Indians
on top 2-1. Emma Hum
phrey walked, and then
an error on a ball hit by
Alii Taufmann put VHS
up 3-1. VHS did load the
bases again but did not
score any more runs in
the frame.
In the top of the sev
enth inning JD loaded
the bases with just one
out, but Harris followed
that with two straight
strikeouts to end the
game and give VHS the
3-1 win.
vs. E. Laurens
At home against the
Falcons on Thursday the
Indians got the chance to
play some of their other
players and still took care
of business with a 4-0
win. VHS scored a run in
the third inning, and
added another in the
fourth to take a 2-0 lead.
Two more runs
crossed for VHS in the
fifth inning to push the
lead to 4-0. VHS held
and took the win, 4-0,
over East Laurens.
Starr was in the circle
for VHS and had 17
strikeouts in the game,
and gave up just three
hits. Crystal Franklin had
three hits for VHS and
Matlin Mead led with
two RBI’s.
vs. Jones Co.
On Saturday the In
dians played two games
against larger schools.
The first was against 5A
Jones County’s Grey
hounds, who are ranked
#10 in the state in their
class. It was a battle
throughout, but Jones
came out on top, 1-0,
over the VHS Indians,
vs. W. Laurens
Up next were the
Raiders of West Laurens,
who are ranked #8 in the
state in class 4A. In this
game the Raiders got
things going at the plate
and pulled away from
VHS. Laurens won the
game 6-0 over the Indi
ans.
With those two losses
the Indians are now 10-3
on the season, but they
are 5-1 in the Region.
This week they played a
Region game against the
#12 ranked Red Raiders
of Bacon County on
Tuesday after presstime.
VHS will be back in ac

By Mike Branch

The Robert Toombs
Christian Academy's Lady
Crusaders softball team
suffered their first two
losses of the season last
week as they dropped
games to Bulloch Academy
and to Pinewood. RTCA
struggled getting the bats
going in both games,
vs. Bulloch
Bulloch took the early
lead with a run in the top
of the second inning.
RTCA put runners on base
in the bottom of the frame
as RTCA loaded the bases
with just one out. But two
fly outs ended the RTCA
threat and sent the game to
the third inning with Bull
och on top 1-0.
In the top of the fourth
inning Bulloch added to
their lead with three more
runs, puttting them on top
4- 0. They added one more
in the fifth inning to lead
5- 0.
the board in the bottom of
the seventh inning, but
they could just put up one
run, as RTCA fell 5-1.
vs. Pinewood
It was a slow start for
both teams in this game,
but Pinewood got on track
late and pulled away for a
win. The Patriots scored
the first run in the top of
the third inning, and then
added one more in the
fourth. Pinewood scored
three more in the fifth in
ning to extend their lead to
5-0.
In the top of the sixth
inning the Patriots broke
the game open with six
more runs as they led 11-0.
RTCA did score a run in
the bottom of the sixth,
but it was not enough as
Pinewood won by the run
rule, 11-1.
RTCA is now 8-2 on
the season. They hosted
Trinity Christian on Tues
day of this week after press
time, and will be back on
the diamond on Thursday
when they are at Pinewood
for a rematch at 5:30 p.m.
A TRIBUTE
TO OUR
CHRISTIAN
SENIOR
CITIZENS
BY GARY TOOLE
It s so hard to
put into just a
few words
how much
you all mean
to us. Above
all you were
always there
living Godly
lives before
us. Not
perfect,
infallible people, but honest hearted,
dependable, God loving role models.
Each one unique and different. All
coming together to help mold our
lives. Role models to others as much
or more than your own. Little things
that mean so much that you have
done or said are in the fore front of
our minds.
I know life sometimes leaves you
feeling like you’ve failed, but satan’s
trickery could never be more wrong.
Even though its human nature to
look at your failings or shortcomings
on the outward appearance, but
through the love of Christ that you’ve
planted in us, we are looking at your
heart in a way. Your forgiving heart.
For when we were wrong you never
upheld us, but you lifted us with love.
When we were weak, you were
strong. Encouraging us with simple,
but powerful words like, I love you, I
appreciate you, we missed you and
don’t give up. And when we were far,
far away we knew you were
somewhere on your knees praying
for us. Lifting us up before the lord.
And with tears in your eyes you let us
know that there is a reality in serving
a true and living God. Driving home
to us that your faith in God was no
ritual, but a way of life and that way of
life, almost unconscious to you at
times was making a powerful impact
on our lives and the lives of those you
encountered.
We thank you from the very
bottom of our hearts for all you are
and all you mean to us and for all
you’ve done for us. Of all the
acquaintances we’ve made in life and
will make there’s always been and
always will be a special place in our
hearts just for you, because God
chose you to fill that space. So, thank
you all for being the wind beneath
our wings. Thank you all for caring
for us. Thank you all for the tears
you’ve shed on our behalf and for the
prayers. For all of that and much
much more, we humbly and gladly
salute you all today. We love you so
much! We appreciate all the
Christian seniors of America. Can
RTCA finally got on
