Durden, Emily Edwards and Railee Thomas led the way with 2 RBI's each in the win. Charlee Ely gave up just one hit in the circle. RTCA was in complete control after the first in ning as they put 16 runs on the board. They did that with a combination of hits, errors by FPCA and walks. The Lady Bulldogs of Wheeler fell in both games. Vs. Toombs It was a close game be tween the two Bulldog teams on Wednesday in Lyons last week. Toombs took the early lead with two runs in the the needed runs to win the game by the run rule after three innings, Head Coach Brian Fitzgerald showed good sportsmanship as he had runners leave the bag early to record outs to help end the inning. In the second inning RTCA added four more runs as they again tried to limit their damage done. That put RTCA on top 20- 0. RTCA held in the top of the third to take the win, 20-0 over FPCA. vs. Bulloch On Thursday the Lady Crusaders fell to Bulloch Academy. Bulloch led the game 1-0 after the first in ning, but the RTCA de fense held them scoreless bottom of the second inning. Wheeler closed the lead to 2-1 with a run in the top of the fifth inning, but Toombs answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to lead 4-1. Wheeler scored a final run in the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 4-2 with Toombs taking the win. Vs. Telfair Telfair broke the game open in the bottom of the first inning with five runs. They added three more in over the next three innings. In the bottom of the fifth Bulloch put three more runs on the board, and then added two more in the sixth inning. That gave Bulloch the win, 6-0 over the Crusaders, vs. FPCA On Monday of this week Durden threw a no hitter on the way to an other big win over FPCA. This time RTCA scored 14 runs in the top of the first inning to take control of the game. They added two more in the second inning on the way to a 16-0 run rule win. This week RTCA will be at Trinity on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. the second inning to push their lead to 8-0. Telfair scored one run in each of the third and fourth innings on the way to a 10-0 win over Wheeler. Wheeler is 9-7 on the season with just a few games left to play. This week they hosted Dublin on Monday and hosted Wilcox County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be at Hawkinsville on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. They will close out the regu lar season on Tuesday of next week at Johnson County. By Mike Branch Sports Editor sports 7 advance@gmail. com The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Cru saders football team took on Southwest Geor gia Academy last Friday night on the road in a very high scoring game. The two teams com bined for a total of 112 points. RTCA kept the game close in the first quarter, but in the second SGA pulled away and RTCA couldn’t make up the difference. RTCA got on the board first with a 56- yard run by Jashaun Powell early in the first quarter. They missed the extra point but led the game 6-0. SGA took the lead on a 38-yard run and added on the PAT for a 7-6 lead over the Cru saders. They extended that lead to 14-6 on an other long run halfway through the first quarter. RTCA tied the game at 14-14 when Powell broke free for a 57-yard run. RTCA added the two-point conversion to tie the game. RTCA went back on top late in the first quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run by Hunter Ennis to cap off a drive. They went again for the two-point conversion, but this time were kept out of the end zone but led the game 20-14. SGA added one more touchdown in the first quarter as they went in from 34 yards out and added the extra point to hold a 21-20 lead at the end of the first. In the second quar ter it was all SGA. They added three more touch downs on runs of 15 yards, 28 yards, and 3 yards to push their lead to 41-20 by the end of the first half. RTCA and SGA traded scores in the third period with RTCA scor ing on a 25-yard pass from TJ Stanley to Tripp Durden and on a 60-yard kickoff return by Dur den. SGA scored on a 52-yard run and on a 7-yard run. That made the score 54-33, but SGA added one more in the third to hold a 60-33 lead heading to the fourth quarter. SGA scored one time in the fourth, but RTCA added two touch downs on a 9-yard pass from Stanley to Powell and on a 5-yard Ennis run. That made the final score of the game 66-46. The teams combined for a total of 1,012 yards in the game. RTCA Head Coach Jacob Lord said, "Our of fense was clicking on the night. Jashaun Powell had a heck of a night for us totaling 3 TD's. 2 Rushing (173 yards) and 1 Reception (32 yards). With a total of 205 for the night. Jashaun's rush ing night wouldn't have been possible without the Big Hogs up front. Total ing 158 Total All Pur pose Yards. Freshman TJ Stanley finished the night going 10/17 with 147 passing yards, 2 Touchdown passes and 1 interception. “We continue to im prove weekly.
