VHS Falls To Tattnall; Split With Eagles

The Vidalia High
School basketball teams
took on Tattnall County
and Montgomery County
last week. The Indians
dropped both games to the
Warriors of Tattnall, and
then split with the Eagles
on Saturday with the boys
getting a win.
Girls vs. Tattnall
Tattnall took an early
6-2 lead on VHS, but the
Indians came back to tie it
at 6-6. But the Warriors
went on a run and by the
middle of the second quar
ter they were on top 21-10
over VHS.
In the third Tattnall
led 29-10, and by the half
way point of the fourth
quarter the score was 42-
14. Tattnall took the win
54-25 over the Indians.
Boys vs. Tattnall
It was a close game
between the boys teams,
but the Warriors came out
on top. Tattnall got on the
board first and pushed
their lead to 22-9 in the
second quarter. The Indi
ans started a comeback,
kicked off by a three-
pointer by Cori Mincey.
They closed the lead to 22-
17, and then Mincey hit
another three to make it
24-20 with VHS down by
just four.
Mincey added a steal
and fast-break basket to
make it a two-point game,
24- 22 heading to halftime.
In the third quarter
Bryson Whited nailed a
three to give VHS the lead,
25- 24, over the Warriors.
Ty Dailey picked up a fast-
break basket to extend the
lead to 27-24, but the War
riors went on a run to take
the lead back, 29-27.
A steal and basket by
Whited tied the game back
at 27-27, but by the middle
of the fourth quarter the
Warriors had taken a 40-35
lead on the Indians.
Tattnall held on to get the
win, 50-40 over VHS.
vs.MCHS
The Vidalia High
School Basketball teams
split a pair of games with
Montgomery County on
Saturday at Parsons-Reid
Gymnasium, with the Indi
ans winning 71-59 and the
Lady Indians falling 64-52.
Senior Ty Dailey ex
ploded for 38 points in the
boy’s game, including eight
three-pointers to lead the
Indians (3-1) over the Ea-
gles.
The boys game was a
four-point game heading
into the final quarter be
fore the Indians outscored
MCHS 17-9 to pull away.
The Indians shot 46% from
the field including 31%
from behind the arc.
Despite scoring a sea
son-high 52 points in the
girl’s contest, the Lady In
dians couldn’t keep pace
with the Lady Eagles, who
handed Vidalia (1-3) their
3rd straight loss.
Montgomery County
jumped out to a 22-14 lead
in the first quarter and
never looked back and had
help along the way as Vida
lia turned the ball over 27
times, leading to 24 Lady
Eagle points.

County with tip off of the
first game at 4:00 p.m.
