DDA offering grants to merchants
Tractor show set in Hoschton
PLENTY OF TRACTORS
Tractors of all shapes and sizes will be on display at the
Hoshton Towne Center.
Several merchants will
soon have improved store
fronts thanks to the City of
Winder and the Downtown
Development Authority
(DDA).
The DDA is administering a
$25,000 grant program which
will provide area merchants
with funds to improve the
exterior of buildings in the
downtown area.
The facade rehabilitation
program will provide up to
$3,000 per business for store
front improvements including
new signs, repairs, painting,
brick cleaning and other proj
ects.
DDA Chairman Mike Rice
said several merchants have
expressed an interest in the
program.
Merchants interested in
applying for a grant must
complete a program applica
tion form which is available
at the City Hall annex build
ing or on the City of Winder's
website, www.cityofwinder.
com. The applicant must pro
vide a description of the pro
posed improvements and an
estimate of the cost.
Once the completed form
is submitted, the facade reha
bilitation program committee
will review the application
and award grants to eligible
recipients. Grants are avail
able on a first come, first
served basis.
The second regional tractor
show will be held on Friday

by the Hoschton Business

individuals and clubs that
want to showcase an original
or restored tractor, and two-
cylinder engines. More than
100 tractors are expected at
the event.
This year, the show will fea

a swap meet for both tractors
and two-cylinder engines.

and Model T Ford cars, and
similar vehicles.
The event will also include
entertainment with a live
band, and square and line
dancing. Children's activities
will include a pedal tractor
race, moon walk, children’s
slide and rock climbing.
A parade will be held on
Saturday, from 10-10:45 a.m.,
along Hwy. 53 — from West
Jackson Road, through down
town Hoschton, to Hoschton
Towne Center. Tractor partici
