CORINTH GROUNDBREAKING
Corinth United Methodist Church members turned the first shovels of soil recently
at the ground breaking of the new transition house on Argonne road. This home will
give shelter to troubled families in transition to a better life. It can be occupied up
to two years as tenants’ goals are met, such as attaining a GED or getting a better
job and learning to budget. Pictured are Pastor Dave Staton and Rev. Lisa Caine,
Corinth’s former pastor, and Bob Fisher, chairman of the administrative board sur
rounded by members of the Church.
CROCHETED ROBES
Six members of the Barrow County Senior Center have crocheted 50 lap robes to be
donated to residents of Winder Health Care. All of the yarn that was used for this
project was donated to the center. Pictured are Maude Harkins, Pat Jinkins and Ivy
Scott. Also taking part in the project but not pictured are Lucille Sisum, Annie Bell
Grissom and Grace John. Delivery is planned for Friday, Dec. 19.

Trip to Great Britain set for summer
Need a holiday gift idea
that’s guaranteed to fit
and delight? Consider the
Brittania, an 11-day trip to
Ireland, Wales, Scotland and
England in June 2009.
The trip is sponsored by
Winder-Barrow High School
English teachers Cheryl
Sauls and Matt Perry, who
have been leading summer
trips to Europe for more than
a decade.
“I can’t imagine a more
exciting gift than the gift
of travel — a chance to see
a part of the world you’ve
never seen before,” said
Sauls.
In addition to a chance
to kiss the Blarney Stone
and listen to Irish music in
Dublin, the trip will include
a ferry across the Irish Sea to
visit a castle in Wales.
“From there, we’ll head up
to Scotland and Edinburgh,
which is always a favor
ite with our students,” said
Perry.
The trip will end with a
night train from Edinburgh
to London.
“We’ll visit both historic
and cultural locations. We’ll
also make time for things
like shopping at Harrod’s,”
says Mrs. Sauls.
Trips are arranged through
EF, the world’s largest stu
dent travel company.
“We’ve been very happy
with their service; that’s why
we’re repeat customers,”
said Perry.
However, the trips aren’t
limited to WBHS students.
“Community members are
more than welcome to join
us,” Perry said. “It’s a great
way to travel with some
‘home folks.’”
