LEARNING ABOUT COLONIAL VILLAGES
Hanna Burt’s second grade class at Bethlehem Christian Academy recently visited
the William Harris Homestead located in Walton County to receive additional hands-
on experience during the Colonial Days learning session. The class was assigned to
choose one of the colonial villages and design it by their choice. The villages they
chose were from the Swedish, Dutch, German, French and English style. Shown are
(L-R, back row) Carsyn Kennedy, Olivia Morgan, Brandon Dalli and Adam Gano; and
front row Hannah Cloud, Dominick Gaddy and Ethan Wilkerson.
INCENTIVE TO READ
Recently, students and parents enjoyed breakfast at Holsenbeck Elementary School
before engaging in activities focused on reading and writing. Holsenbeck officials
welcomed more than 200 parents for their first “Books and Biscuits” event. The
event started at 7:30 in the morning and continued until 9 a.m. Door prizes such as
books and games were given to encourage reading at home. Parents left with strate
gies to promote better readers and writers at home. It was a morning filled with fun
and learning, school leaders said.
