World Crown Weekend
Jefferson, Ga.
(* schedule subject to change)
JEFFERSON, GA — With the
new year just around the comer
and teams are beginning to pre
pare for the upcoming race season,
the Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS)
released its 2008 schedule last
week.
Jefferson is tops on the list, as
the series’ home track of Peachstate
Speedway will open up the sea
son on March 29. The track will
also conclude the schedule on Nov.
7-9 with the annual World Crown
Classic.
GAS director, Vince Whitmire
said this year’s schedule is full of
races close to home.
“As you may notice, we’ve cut
out a lot of the traveling for the
teams. This will help to keep their
cost down and hopefully they can
race more,” Whitmire said.
With most races within two hours
of Atlanta, the teams will be able to
save on fuel cost and lodging.
The GAS will kick off the sea
son at its home track of Peachstate
Speedway, Home of the World
Crown Classic. That will be the
first of six visits to the 1/2 mile oval
for the series including a special
Thursday night, July 3rd event.
In addition, the GAS will make two
visits to Anderson Motor Speedway
in South Carolina, two visits to
Watermelon Capital Speedway in
Cordele, and three visits to New
Senoia Speedway in Senoia.
The season will end at Peach
State Speedway with the annual
World Crown Classic.
“We have some real exciting
things in the works for the upcom
ing season and the World Crown,”
adds Whitmire. It should be a great
year.”

the series, visit www.georgiaas-
