Dorothy Maginnis
Winder
Dorothy Eloise Maginnis, 87,
of Winder, died Sunday, January
65, 2008.
Bom in Stephens County, she
was the daughter of the late Russell
C. Jones Sr. and Cassie Carter
Jones. She was a homemaker and
member of Winder First Baptist
Church. Mrs. Maginnis was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Thomas C. Maginnis; and a son.
Coulter Maginnis.
Survivors include daughters,
Lisa Hulsey, Winder, and Carol
Edge, Sautee; daughter-in-law,
Shirley Maginnis; six grandchil
dren; and eight great-grandchil
dren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, January 9, at Smith
Memory Chapel with the Rev.
John Talley officiating. Burial was
in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Lizzie Bowles
Winder
Lizzie Bowles, 94, of Winder,
died Sunday, January 6, 2008.
A native of Walton County,
she was the daughter of the
late William Wiley and Susie
Beddingfield Sorrells and was
Baptist. Mrs. Bowles was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Ed W. Bowles.
Survivors include a daughter,
Helen Jenkins, Winder; grand
children, Brenda Brown, Danny
Jenkins, Rodney Jenkins, Tina
Friel and Melissa Montgomery;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, January 8, in the chapel
of Carter Funeral Home with Mr.
Steve Roberts officiating. Burial
was in Sharon Baptist Church
Cemetery.

George Little
Gillsville
George Marshall Little, 80, of
Gillsville, died Monday, January
7, 2008, at Northeast Georgia
Medical Center, following an
extended illness.
Bom in Franklin County, he
was the son of the late Clyde
Robert and Reba Dobbs Little
and was Baptist. Mr. Little was
preceded in death by a son-in-law.
Cliff Sparrow; sisters, Bertie Mae
Jackson and Mozell LaCount; and
a brother, Hubert E. Little.
Survivors include his wife,
Jimmie Lou Dean Little, Gillsville;
daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy
Shuler, Deborah Sparrow, Martha
Huynh, Cindy and Bo Browning,
all of Gainesville, and Lynn and
Phil Garrison, Lula; sons and
daughters-in-law, Danny and
Kathy Little, Crawford, Scott
and Annette Little, Gainesville;
grandchildren, Tara David, Sherry
Millwood, Stacy Sparrow, David
Paul Little, Candice Huynh, Ly
Van Huynh II, Cricket Doolittle,
Kyle Little, Chris Browning,

Thursday, January 10, at 2 p.m.,
in the chapel of Memorial Park
Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken
Grindle officiating. Burial will be
in Alta View Cemetery.

Frank Sellers
Mt. Airy
Frank Blair Sellers, 57, of Mt.
Airy, died Saturday, January
5, 2008, at Habersham County
Medical Center, following a sud
den illness.
Born in Habersham County on
October 5, 1950, he was the son
of the late Thomas Roosevelt and
Lizzie Mae Owens Sellers. He
was self-employed and a mem
ber of Welcome Home Baptist
Church. He was an avid hunt
er and a member of Mt. Airy
Masonic Lodge #141 F&AM. Mr.
Sellers was preceded in death by
a brother, Henry “Buddy” Sellers;
and sister, Willie Blanche Sellers.
Survivors include his wife,
Janie Sellers, Mt. Airy; daugh
ter, Amber Kirby, Oakwood; son,
Jason Sellers, Commerce; broth
ers, Leon, Joe and Jim Sellers,
all of Mt. Airy; sisters, Julia
Hermanson, Macon, Jane Merck,
Eatonton, and Carolyn Sanders,
Mt. Airy; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, January 8, at Hazel
Creek Baptist Church with the
Rev. O.L. McCullough and Dr.
Kenneth Franklin officiating.
Burial was in the church cem
etery with the Rev. Billy Burrell
officiating.

Tab Swartzbaugh
Winder
Tab Swartzbaugh, 18,ofWinder,
died Wednesday, January 2,2008,
at his residence.
Born in Cape Coral, Fla., he was
the son of father
and step-mother,
Tim and Kathy
Swartzbaugh of
Bonita Springs,
Fla., and mother
and step-father,
Lisa and Casey
Allison of Winder.
He was a member of the Center
United Methodist Church and
was a 2007 graduate of Winder-
Barrow High School, where he
served as manager for the swim
team and track team. He was cur
rently serving as team manager
for the football team. Tab was pre
ceded in death by grandparents.
Ruby Lamb, Lewis Swartzbaugh
and Alvin Thomas.
Survivors in addition to his
parents, include a sister, Zoe
Swartzbaugh, Winder; step-broth
ers, Rex and Ryan Harrell, Ft.
Myers, Fla.; grandmother, Sally
Crawford, Ft. Myers, Fla.; great
grandmother, Grace Grogan,
Braselton.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, January 6, at the Center
United Methodist Church with
the Revs. Howard Banks and
Glenn Parrish officiating. Burial
was in the church cemetery.

‘Jimmy’ Griffin
Gainesville
James Manus “Jimmy”
Griffin, 68, of Gainesville, died
Wednesday, January 2, 2008,
at Northeast Georgia Medical
Center in Gainesville, following
a sudden illness.
He was born in Seneca, S.C., the
son of the late Tommy and Flossie
Vandiver Griffin. He lived his
childhood days in New Holland,
where he played basketball for the
New Holland Elementary School.
He was a very outstanding little
league baseball player, where
he played on many champion
ship teams and all-star teams. He
graduated from Riverbend High
School in 1957, where he played
basketball for the Riverbend
Hornets. He was a very popular
player and his team won several
championships. Jimmy worked
with the Hall County Boys Club,
where he was very instrumental
in many of the boys’ lives in Hall
County today. He was plant man
ager for Deep South Plant for 22
years, and he and his wife started
the Double D Burger, which is
owned today by his son.
He loved camping, hunting,
and fishing, and was a lovable
husband, father and grandfather,
loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife,
Sandra Ertzberger Griffin,
Gainesville; daughter and son-
in-law, Rhonda Griffin and
Rickey Stells, Gainesville; son
and daughter-in-law, Gary and
Dana Griffin, Gainesville; grand
son, Zachary Stells, Gainesville;
granddaughters, McKenzie Bell,
Amberley Griffin and Allison
Griffin, all of Gainesville; sisters,
Barbara Strickland, Gainesville,
and Helen Strickland, Forest
Park; and several nieces, nephews
and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, January 5, in the chapel
of Memorial Park Funeral Home
with the Rev. Steve Baker offi
ciating. Burial was in Memorial
Park Cemetery.

Nancy Wall
Statham
Nancy Austin Wall, 68, of
Statham, died Thursday, January
3, 2008.
Born in Barrow County, she
was the daughter of the late Evell
and Rosie Dillard Austin. She
was a homemaker and a member
of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband,
James “Bob” R. Wall, Statham; a
son, Freddy Thurmond, Statham;
daughters. Dale Thurmond and
Paula Crowder, Statham; and five
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, January 5, at Calvary
Baptist Church with the Rev.
Ronnie Healan officiating. Burial
was in the church cemetery.

was in charge of arrangements.

Gilmer Glenn
Maysville
Gilmer Franklin Glenn, 69, of
Maysville, died Friday, January
4, 2008.
Born on November 5, 1938, in
J ackson County, he
was the son of the
late W.R. Glenn
Jr. and Frances
Wilkes Glenn.
He was retired
from the First
Commerce Bank
and was a mem
ber of the Bethany
United Methodist
Church. Mr. Glenn
was a veteran, having served in
the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife,
Barbara O’Kelley Glenn,
Maysville; sons, Jeff Glenn, Villa
Rica, Darren Glenn, Jefferson,
and Sid Glenn, Maysville; a sister,
Lori Ethridge, Jefferson; broth
ers, Danny R. Glenn, Jefferson,
and R. Garry Glenn, Oakwood;
five grandchildren; and one great
grandchild.
Funeral services were held
Monday, January 7, at the Bethany
United Methodist Church with the
Revs. Dean Bryant, Joe Hardy, and
Truman Humphries officiating.
Pallbearers were Hunter Glenn,
Taylor Glenn, Brandon Glenn,
Kason Glenn, Toby Glenn, and
Morgan Glenn. A private family
burial will be held at a later date.
