The 1-85 North Relay for Life Team participated in Relay for Life May 6-7 at Hoschton Park. The team earned
more than $2,900, which was more than twice their goal, in donations from fundraisers and contributors.
Attends State Conference
Sunbury Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution
sent Regent Gail Mosuch of Jefferson and Carol Tanner
of Hoschton to the 113th State Conference at the
Augusta Marriott in Augusta. Some 350 members of the
organization attended, along with 65 Regents. The del
egates from Sunbury Chapter attended meetings, the
DAR Schools luncheon, the Chapter Regents Banquet
and a garden reception and tour of “Meadow Garden.”
Board of Realtors raises money for Relay for Life
The 1-85 North Relay for Life Team
participated in Relay for Life May 6-7
at Hoschton Park. The team earned over
$2,900, which was more than twice their
goal, in donations from various fund rais
ers and contributors.
The team camped out overnight and
took turns walking around the track to
raise money and awareness to help the
American Cancer Society create a world
with less cancer and more birthdays.
Not only did the team raise money for
a good cause but they also earned the
Silver Spoon Award for their homemade
ice cream courtesy of Angela McKinney,
Debbie Robinson and Toni Lockwood.
Team members included Team Captain
Dawn Polk, Eleanor Brannen, Jan Bullock,
Lamar Bullock, Deborah Burdette, Angela
Healan,Audrey Lockwood,ToniLockwood,
Brian Polk, Debbie Robinson, Lisa Sweat,
Crystal Weise and Kristi Young.
The inaugural event for Relay for Life
raised more than $75,000.
Libraries plan magic shows
Keith Karnok, known
throughout Georgia as “Mr.
Keith the Magic Man,” will
performing his magic and ven
triloquism reading show, “One
World, Many Stories,” at sev
eral area libraries this summer.

Mr. Keith has performed
hundreds of reading shows
at libraries and elementary
schools throughout Georgia.
He has been a finalist or a semi
finalist in three international
magic/ventriloquism competi
tions. The stars of his show are
his two puppets, “Vem,” the
talking/singing Gooney bird
and a confused duck named
“Chuck.”
Each child receives a color
ing picture of Mr. Keith with
Chuck and Vem as well as a
Jumbo Dollar Bill with easy-
to-do magic tricks. Mr. Keith
and his wife/assistant Melinda
live in Watkinsville.
At ‘Meadow Garden’
Sunbury Chapter Regent Gail Mosuch stands at
“Meadow Garden,” the home of George Walton, one of
the Georgia signers of the Declaration of Independence.
A reception in the garden and tour of the home was
held during the Georgia State Conference. The home
is owned and maintained by the Georgia State Society,
Daughters of the American Revolution, and tours are
available to the public.
