Virginia White Moore
PENDERGRASS — Virginia White Moore. 76, Pender
grass, entered into rest Sunday, December 29,2019.
Mrs. Moore was bom in
Rome, the daughter of the late
Heyward and Estelle Maddox
White, and is also preceded by
her late husband, Robert M.
Moore.
Mrs. Moore received her
Undergraduate Degree from
Young Harris College, her
Masters In Education Degree
from Brenau University, and
enjoyed a long teaching career
first with the Barrow County
School System and then retir
ing after 29 years of service to
the Jackson County School System. Mrs. Moore was a member
of Walnut Fork Baptist Church, the Georgia Association of Ed
ucators, and enjoyed reading, fishing, gospel music and playing
the piano.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky J. Sanders and his wife
Patty. Pendergrass, and Wesley Sanders and his wife Lisa, Pen
dergrass; three grandchildren, Nicholas Sanders, Luke Sanders
and Aubree Sanders also survive.
Funeral service: Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. from the
Walnut Fork Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Strickland offici
ating with burial to follow in the church cemetery with the fol
lowing gentlemen honored as pallbearers: Nick Sanders, Luke
Sanders. Brad Duck, Troy Sanders, Greg Carlyle and Mike
Cantrell. Ken Holland will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Family to receive friends: Thursday, January 2, 2020 from
5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

WINTERVILLE — Annie Ruth “Tootsie” Bell Parsons,
70, Winterville, passed away on Friday, January 3,2020.
Bom in Camesville. she
was a daughter of the late
Hoyt Bell and Emma Lee
Payton Bell. Mrs. Parsons
was of the Baptist faith. In
addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her
husband, Chester Overton
Parsons Jr.; two brothers-in-
law, Bennie Parks and Maxie
Cleveland Pmitt.
Survivors include her
daughter, Angela Denise
Parsons Blackstock; three
sisters, Rada Sue Pmitt, Car-
nesville, Opal Bell Parks, North Carolina, and Hazel Jones
(Glynn), Florida; four grandchildren, Brittany Anne Melton-
Brown, Alanna Michelle Melton, Daniel Overton Melton and
Ashleigh Brooke Blackstock; nine great-grandchildren; and
numerous other beloved family and friends.

Syble Montine Patrick
WINDER — Syble Montine Patrick, 82, Winder, passed
away on Sunday, January 5, 2020.
Mrs. Patrick was a member of the Winder First Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Patrick is preceded in death by her loving husband,
Jack Kennedy Patrick, who passed away in 2003; son, Gary
Lewis Patrick; parents, Leroy and Minnie Whitley; and sister,
Helen Whitley Freeman.
Mrs. Patrick is survived by her son, Eric Wayne Patrick and
daughter-in-law, Victoria Patrick; grandchild, Erica Patrick
(Russ) Shepley; and great-granddaughter, Erilynn Shepley.
Funeral service: Tuesday, January 7. 2020 at 4 p.m. in the
chapel of Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Pen
nington officiating. Burial will follow the service at Barrow
Memorial Gardens.
Family to receive friends: Tuesday, January 7,2020 from 2
until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pamela Grace Pinion
WINDER — Pamela Grace Pinion, 61, Winder, passed
away Thursday. January 2, 2020.
Pam was the previous owner of The Oasis Bar for 15-plus
years and she loved to cook. She was preceded in death by
her parents, David and Matilee Garland Andrews.
Pam is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Mills Rogers (John
Morrison), Winder; her companion, Pat Pinion, Winder; two
brothers, John Andrews, Orlando, Florida, and David An
drews (Alice), Deltona, Florida; a sister, Linda Burton, Sylva,
North Carolina; two grandchildren, Matilee and Gavin Rog
ers, Winder, and their father. Jeff Rogers.

Marilyn Jones Poole
HOSCHTON — Marilyn Jones Poole, 81, Hoschton.
passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019.
Marilyn was born in Atlanta on September 10, 1938 at
Crawford Long Memorial Hospital to Albert David Jones
and Blanche Waltenbaugh Jones. On November 9, 1957 at
Glenn Memorial Methodist Church, she married Norman
Edgar Poole, who predeceased her in 2017. Marilyn grew up
in Atlanta, graduating from Murphy High School and attend
ing Georgia State College for Women. She lived most of her
life in the Atlanta area, except for when Norman was called
to the U.S. Army at Ft. Jackson. Columbia, South Carolina,
from 1956-1958.
Marilyn and Norman moved back to Atlanta in 1958 with
their first son, Michael David. In 1961, they welcomed their
second son. Marshall Lane. Marilyn was proud of both of her
boys attending Auburn University. In addition to being a lov
ing wife and raising two boys, Marilyn worked in the Atlanta
Public Schools and the DeKalb County School System. She
worked at Southwest DeKalb High School from 1972-1995
as a permanent substitute teacher and in the counseling of
fice, Always beautifully dressed, many SWD students have
recalled Mrs. Poole as the most glamorous substitute teacher
they ever had.
She also worked at the Atlanta Apparel Mart and was a
long-time member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church where
she participated in the church builders program. She also en
joyed bowling and drove all over the U.S. to participate in
tournaments.
Marilyn is survived by her two sons, grandchildren and
great grandchildren: son, Michael David Poole ( wife Karen)
— David Poole (Lydia) (Daphne, Clara, Teddy), Dr. Daniel
Poole (Jessica) (Piper, Pierson Pearl, Penelope), Dr. Kathleen
Poole, John Poole (Jackie), and Anna Poole Legge (James);
son, Marshall Lane Poole (wife Karen) — Sean Poole (de
ceased 2015), Sullivan Poole (Sarah), Colin Poole, Michael
Hammond (Natalie) (Haleigh. Kinsley) and Christina Ham
mond (Jayden. Caleb).
In addition to her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death
by her parents, A.D. and Blanche Jones; and in-laws, Truman
P. Sr. and Helen Poole.
Celebration of life: Saturday, January 11,2020 at 12 p.m. at
12 Stone Church — Braselton, 2675 Old Winder Hwy. (Hwy
211), Braselton. Ga. 30517 with refreshments to follow.

Clara Dalton Sammons
AUBURN — Clara Dalton Sammons, 80, Auburn, passed
away on Saturday, January 4. 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sam
mons.
She is survived by her children, Terry and Carolyn Sam
mons, Auburn, and Larry and Shirley Sammons. Auburn;
grandchildren, Alicia and Jason Holt, Crystal and Brian Mc
Daniel, Steven and Penny Sammons, and Trevor Sammons;
great-grandchildren, Landon Holt and Corson Holt; broth
er. Curtis Dalton, Winder; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Mrs. Sammons was bom on February 21. 1939 in Tennes
see, She was a homemaker and had attended Calvary Baptist
Church in Auburn.
Funeral service: Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 2 p.m. in
the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. Interment will follow
at the Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder.

Lola Pressley Smallwood
AUBURN — Lola Pressley Smallwood, 101, Auburn,
passed away Friday, January 3, 2020.
She was of the Baptist faith. Lola was a homemaker and
loved her family and cooking and she loved fishing. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Ida May Forster
Pressley; her husband of 53 years, J C Smallwood; three
daughters, Camell Hunter. Inez Sellers and Willie Nell Wy
att; two brothers, Joe and Paul Pressley; three sisters, Clydie
Mae Martin, Eunice Anderson and Irene Hicks; and four
grandchildren, Bobby Martin, Bobby Smith, Kelly Futch and
Mickey Futch.
She is survived by two sons, David Smallwood (Rose), Lo-
ganville, and Newton Smallwood, Auburn; daughter. Eddie
May Martin, Winder; 27 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchil
dren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Family to receive friends: Sunday, January 5, 2020 from
6-9 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Winder.
Funeral service: Monday, January 6, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the
chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Chad Freeman and Pat

Jean Stone Stewart
COMER — Jean Stone Stewart. 89, Comer, passed away
on Tuesday, December 24,2019.
Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late James T. Stone and
Clara Sailors Stone. She was a member of Comer United
Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was pre
ceded in death by her husband, William “Carl” Stewart; and
two sisters, Helen Durden and Jeanette Stone.
Survivors include two daughters, Yulonda Davis (Chris)
and Carla Ingram (Tony); one sister. Mary Alice Booth; two
grandchildren, Nicole Cheek (Joey) and Tyler Ingram (Bai
ley); and two great-grandchildren, Carson Cheek and Reed
Ingram.
Memorial service will be private.

Reva Blanche Cheek Crane Waddell
COMMERCE — Reva Blanche Cheek Crane Wad
dell, 99, Commerce, passed away January 2, 2020 at
Hill Haven Nursing Home.
Mrs. Waddell was born on August 7,1920 to Burgess
Frank Cheek and Lydia Ann Burrell Cheek of Banks
County. She was the widow of Cecil Crane (father of
their children) and Willie Lee Waddell. She is preceded
in death by her daughter, Brenda Taylor; granddaugh
ter, Ashley Rebecca Taylor; great- granddaughter, Can
dace Cook; sons-in-law, David Cook and Bobby Jones;
siblings, Frank Cheek, Georgia Ensley, Lillie Under
wood, Mae Ledford and Jimmy Cheek.
Mrs. Waddell, also known as Mamaw to her family,
moved to Decatur in the 60s and lived there 47 years
before moving back to Commerce in 2012. She worked
at Columbia High School up until she was 80 years old.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Cook
and Geneva Crane, Commerce, and Patricia Jones, Jef
ferson; son, Cecil Eugene Crane, Fallon, Nevada; son-
in-law, Dennis Taylor, Bethlehem; 14 grandchildren,
22 great- grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchil
dren.
Funeral service: Saturday. January 4, 2020 at 2 p.m.

lowing at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Deborah Margaret Wenig
Deborah Margaret Wenig, 61, passes away on Thurs
day, January 2, 2020 after a three-year battle with can
cer..
She was born on Au

ence at several colleges
and universities. She married her high school sweet
heart Joseph (Joe) Wenig in Middletown, New York, on
June 8, 1980 and they had two children David Wenig
(’83) and Jessica Mumau (’86).
Deb was an avid traveler and coined her own catch-
phrase “you won’t know unless you go,” which helped
guide her adventurous spirit. Deb traveled the world
spanning several continents. Her favorite places to visit
were Martha’s Vineyard, Walt Disney World, Australia
and Japan. She lived in New York, New Jersey, Ohio,
Tokyo and Georgia.
Another of Deb’s passions was her community in
volvement and service. She dedicated much of her
attention to the various causes she felt strongly about
including the League of Women Voters, ShineON!
Kids and others. She was very proud of her time on
the Board of Governors of the Tokyo American Club
as they opened and operated a new world-class facility.
One of Deb’s greatest skills may also be her most en
during legacy. Deb loved to make others happy and to
see them smile. When Deb spoke with someone, they
couldn’t help but feel a real connection and her caring
spirit. She made every room she entered brighter and
she always made that effort. Over the year's, Deb made
so many friends that she kept for a lifetime.
Deb loved her family dearly. She is survived by her
husband, Joe, and their children, David (Emily) and
Jessica (Robert), and their families, including her six
grandchildren, David, Emmett, Lia, Logan, Phillip and
Robert who meant everything to her. To Deb’s grand
children, she was known as “Bamma.” Deb was the
best Bamma in the world. Deb is also survived by her
mother, siblings, and all of her nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her
name to one of the two causes she cared about. Either
JDRF in honor of her grandson, David Wenig, or to the
American Cancer Society.
Memorial service: Friday, January 10, 2020 begin
