Braselton PD
Man says he
A man recently reported
being shot at in Braselton.
Officers with the
Braselton Police Depart
ment were called to the
Hwy. 347 location for the
aggravated assault incident.
The complainant said was
walking on Hwy. 347 when
he heard someone say “f-
— you” then heard what he
believed were two gunshots.
When he looked, he said
he saw a vehicle that be
longs to his sister's ex-boy
friend. He said the man has
taunted him numerous times
in recent weeks, pulling a
firearm on him and telling
him he is going to kill him.
The two previously lived
together and had disagree
ments about rent payments.
The complainant wasn’t
clear if the man was the one
who shot at him, since he
couldn't see in the vehicle.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other recent incidents re
ported to the BPD were:

Walnut Way where a man
and woman argued and
the woman bit a part of the
shot at in Braselton
was
man’s nose off. She said she
was fearful of the man and
that he threatened her. The
man said the woman struck
him and he retaliated by
slapping her, then said she
lunged and bit his nose. The
incident was turned over to
investigators.

ported his wife was missing
and he couldn’t get in touch
with her.

cock Ave. where a family
reported their son sent brief
text replies, which was un
like him. They said it's also
unusual for him to stay away
from home for so long with
out checking in.

Cody Dr. where a vehicle
was damaged in a car wash.
•theft on Hwy. 124 where
someone reported an em
ployee committed multiple
thefts.
•disturbance on Old Wind
er Hwy. where someone
reportedly caused a distur
bance at a business,
•speeding; possession
of marijuana less than an
ounce; and possession of
drug-related objects on 1-85
where officers stopped a ve
hicle for speeding, smelled
marijuana inside and cited
the driver after she turned
over the substance, along
with a grinder and pipe.
ARRESTS
Recent arrests made by the
BPD were:
•Lee Junior Mackey, 63,
9656 Davis St., Braselton —
driving under the influence
(DUI)-alcohol and hit and
run. Mackey was involved
in an accident and reportedly
tried to leave the scene. Offi
cers said he smelled of alco
hol and showed other signs
of being under the influence
(unsteady on his feet, slurred
speech and glassy and blood
shot eyes). He was reported
ly too unsteady on his feet to
do field testing and was ar
rested after a breath test.
•Megan Lee Palmer, 28,
882 Sam Freeman Rd.,
Braselton — theft by shop
lifting. Palmer reportedly
took a can of butane from a
business without paying.

Mother faces charges
in death of two
children in Hall County
A Gainesville woman will be charged with murder
and aggravated assault following the deaths of her two
children.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators have ob
tained arrest warrants for Berenice Jaramillo-Hernan-
dez, 26. Jaramillo-Hemandez faces two counts each of
felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault.
The victims have been identified as Mateo Miranda
Jaramillo. 5, and Katherine Miranda Jaramillo, 6.
According to the preliminary investigation, between
noon and 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, Jaramillo-Hernan-
dez killed the children with a knife and then turned the
knife on herself, resulting in serious injuries.
The incident occurred at their home on Crescent
Drive.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the initial 911 call at
approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, in reference to
a woman that had cut herself. Arriving deputies locat
ed the injured Jaramillo-Hernandez and discovered the
bodies of the children in the home.
Hall County Fire Services transported Jaramillo-Her
nandez for medical treatment, while the investigation
began.
Jaramillo-Hernandez will be charged at the comple
tion of her medical treatment.
The case remains under investigation.
Hall County
Gainesville man charged
for trafficking meth
A Gainesville man was recently arrested after author
ities confiscated approximately four kilograms of meth-
amphetamine during a multi-agency investigation.
Edwin Barrera, 30, is charged with trafficking meth-
amphetamine and remained in the Hall County Jail
without bond on Friday afternoon, Dec. 11.
Agents arrested Barrera on Otila Drive in Hall County
and located the drugs, worth roughly $400,000 on the
street.
Multiple agencies assisted in the investigation, includ
ing the Gainesville/Hall County Multi-Agency Narcot
ics Squad (MANS Unit), Georgia Bureau of Investiga
tion Gang Task Force, GBI Appalachian Regional Drug
Enforcement Office (ARDEO). GBI West Metro Drug
Task Force and the U.S. Department of Homeland Se
curity.
The case remains under investigation.
No further arrests are expected.

threatened.

Man charged for pointing gun, ramming vehicle

Wednesday. Dec. 9.
Abraham Rivas, 26, is
charged twice with aggra
vated assault and once with
first-degree criminal dam
age to property. Hall County
Sheriff’s Office deputies also
charged Rivas for aggressive
driving and possession of
less than an ounce of mari
juana.
Deputies were called
around 11:40 p.m. to reports
of a gunman and met with
the victims. According to
the HCSO. a man, 20, and a
female, 17, left a restaurant
in a car and were followed
by Rivas who was driving
a minivan.
“As he was following the
victims on Hwy. 369/Browns
Bridge Rd., Rivas pointed a
handgun at them,” the HCSO
said in a news release. “As
the victims sped up to get
away, Rivas rammed their
car with the van he was
driving in the area of Gould
Drive, The victims were able
to drive to a safe location as
Rivas drove off.”
Shortly after deputies met
with the victims. Gainesville
Police Department officers
located, stopped and took
Rivas into custody without
incident at the intersection
of Hwy. 369/Jesse Jewell
Pkwy. and Hwy. 60/Queen
City Pkwy.
No one was injured during
the incident.
