Braselton volunteer
orientation set for June 10
The new Braselton B-team volunteer organization
will hold orientation on June 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the
Braselton Police and Municipal Court building locat
ed at 5040 Hwy. 53.
Those interested in joining the organization are
asked to:
•complete the volunteer registration form at
https://braselton.formstack.com/forms/volunteer_
application
•attend the June 10 new volunteer orientation
session on June 10. RSVP by emailing Amy Pinnell at
apinnell@braselton.net
•schedule a free history tour (details will be
emailed once registration received)
According to a press release from the town,
B-Team members assist with Town of Braselton
events, projects and promotions. Members will serve
as ambassadors during large events and work behind
the scenes with staff and other community leaders
and organizers.
Braselton West Wine Hop
set for June 22
The fourth-annual Braselton West Wine Hop is
scheduled for June 22 (5-9 p.m.) during which busi
nesses will welcome patrons with a wine tasting
paired with snacks prepared by Braselton restau
rants. Ticketholders will ride the Braselton Trolley to
each sipping station
"Take your time strolling, shopping and enjoying
other activities provided by our local businesses," or
ganizers said. "It's a great way to explore Braselton
West."
One hundred tickets will be available. Sales begin
May 18 at 10 a.m.
Ticket holders will receive a souvenir wine tum
bler, punch card with map of locations and a wine
tasting and food sample at each stop. Patrons must
be at least 21 and will be required to show identifi
cation at check in.

Braselton Polite Foundation
5K set for July 29
The Braselton Police Foundation will host a 5K
Saturday, July 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the lower patio of
the Braselton Brothers Department Store building at
9924 Davis St. The cost is $30.
The course is certified for runners to use their
times to qualifying for the AJC Peachtree Road Race.
The Braselton Police Foundation raises funds to pro
vide equipment and financial support to the Braselton
Police Department and to individual officers in need.

Braselton Farmers Market
moves to weekly schedule
The Braselton Farmers Market has shifted to week
ly markets on Fridays running through September.
Monthly markets will resume in October. There is
no December market. Each market starts at 4 p.m.
The market has also moved to the Braselton Town
Green, adjacent to its previous location on Davis St.,
to allow for more space.
BraseltonTech Spark
Sessions continue
BraseltonTech — a private-public initiative be
tween the Town of Braselton and the Advanced
Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia
Tech — continues its "spark sessions" at the Bra
selton Civic Center to provide advice and support for
startup tech companies. The remaining schedule is as
follows: June 15, July 13 and Aug. 10. All sessions
begin at 6 p.m.
The BraseltonTech workshops are free and open to
the public. Space, however, is limited.

BraseltonTech hosting
monthly 'startup socials'
BraseltonTech has announced a series of 'start
up socials' on the first Tuesday of each month from
6-8 p.m. at The Fishbowl at Flourish Taproom located
in Braselton's 1904 Building.
According to organizers, the socials connect lead
ers of tech startups with investors, entrepreneurs
and mentors.
BraseltonTech is a private-public initiative be
tween the Town of Braselton and the Advanced
Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia
Tech to provide advice and support for startup tech
companies.

Town of Braselton
announces budget
hearing schedule
The Town of Braselton has announced the public hear
ing schedule for all town government, agency and author
ity budgets for Fiscal Year 2024:
•Braselton Town Council. Thursday. June 8, 4 p.m. The
council will hold a called meeting June 28 at 5 p.m. to
vote on the proposed budget, which calls for $7.1 million
in spending, up 15% from last year, and a projected $10.55
million in revenue, up 20% from last year. The town will
have a balance of $3.45 million to go toward debt service
and reserves.
•Braselton Downtown Development Authority (DDA),
Thursday, June 8, 11 a.m. The DDA will hold a called
meeting June 15 at 11 a.m. to vote on a proposed $109,295
budget.
•Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority (VBA), Friday,
June 9. 10 a.m. The VBA will hold a called meeting June
29 at 10 a.m. to vote on a proposed $3,055 million budget.
•Braselton Urban Redevelopment Agency (URA),
Wednesday, June 7, 3 p.m. The URA will hold a called
meeting June 28 at 1 p.m. to vote on a proposed $611,280
budget.
All public meetings will be held at the Braselton Police
and Municipal Court Building at 5040 Hwy. 53.

Unemployment rates down
across region, state
All Regional Commissions across the state reported a
drop in unemployment rates in April, according to an up
date from Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thomp
son.
“With Georgia’s economy continuing to soar, the state
unemployment rates remain steady,” said Commission
er Bruce Thompson. “When you consider the number of
existing companies expanding throughout the state com
bined with the incredible announcements of corporations
moving to our state, the future continues to look very
bright for the labor market. “As we approach the summer
months, we are optimistic that job growth will remain
steady in virtually every sector in the state.”
Highlights from the Northeast Region include:
•The unemployment rate was down six-tenths to 2.5%
over-the-month, the rate was 2.3% one year ago.
•The labor force was down 3,380 over-the-month and
up 4,650 over-the-year, to 325,121.
•The number of employed was down 1,154 over-the-
month and up 3.967 over-the-year, to 317.040.
•Initial claims were up 80 (9%) over-the-month and up
201 (25%) over-the-year, to 1,004.
The Northeast region includes: Barrow, Clarke. Elbert,
Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton,
Oconee, Oglethorpe and Walton counties.
