orientation set (or June 10
The new Braselton B-team volunteer organization will hold orien
tation on June 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the Braselton Police and Municipal
Court building located at 5040 Hwy. 53.
Those interested in joining the organization are asked to:
•complete the volunteer registration form at https://braselton.

•attend the June 10 new volunteer orientation session on June

According to a press release from the town, B-Team members as
sist with Town of Braselton events, projects and promotions. Mem
bers will serve as ambassadors during large events and work behind
the scenes with staff and other community leaders and organizers.
Braselton West Wine Hop
set for June 22
The fourth-annual Braselton West Wine Plop is scheduled for
June 22 (5-9 p.m.) during which businesses will welcome patrons
with a wine tasting paired with snacks prepared by Braselton
restaurants. Ticketholders will ride the Braselton Trolley to each
sipping station
"Take your time strolling, shopping and enjoying other activities
provided by our local businesses," organizers said. "It's a great way
to explore Braselton West."
One hundred tickets will be available. Sales begin May 18 at
10 a.m.
Ticket holders will receive a souvenir wine tumbler, punch card
with map of locations and a wine tasting and food sample at each
stop. Patrons must be at least 21 and will be required to show iden
tification at check in.

Braselton summer Art-Tiques Vintage Market
set for June 23-25
The Braselton Art-Tiques Vintage Market is scheduled for June
23-25, featuring over 125 vendors.
The event will feature home decor, vintage, farmhouse, primi
tives, rustics, pottery and local artwork inside the PHistoric Braselton
Gym at 4852 Plwy.53 and the surrounding area.
Included in the three-day market will be food trucks and live mu
sic.
Parking and admission are free.
The market schedule is as follows:
•Friday, June 23, noon to 7 p.m.
•Saturday, June 24,9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
•Sunday, June 25,10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Braselton hosting annual July 4
(estival and fireworks
The Town of Braselton will host its annual Independence Day cel
ebration Tuesday, July 4, downtown with a patriotic parade, festival
and fireworks show.
The festival includes a concert on the town green, kid-friendly
activities, food trucks, dining and shopping.
The parade begins at Free Chapel Braselton at 6 p.m. and will
continue through downtown on Plwy. 53 and Harrison Street. Fire
works begin at dark.
The schedule is as follows:
•5-9:30 p.m., Food trucks, live music and activities on the town
green.
•6 p.m., Patriotic parade on Hwy. 53 from Free Chapel through
downtown
•Fireworks at dark (beginning between 9-9:30 p.m.)
•Soul Purpose Band, 6:30 p.m.
•5-9 p.m., parking shuttle to Free Chapel Braselton and West
Jackson Elementary School (shuttle service ends before fireworks).
Braselton Police Foundation
5K set for July 29
The Braselton Police Foundation will host a 5K Saturday, July 29,
at 7:30 p.m. at the lower patio of the Braselton Brothers Department
Store building at 9924 Davis St. The cost is $30.
The course is certified for runners to use their times to qualifying
for the AJC Peachtree Road Race.The Braselton Police Foundation
raises funds to provide equipment and financial support to the Bra
selton Police Department and to individual officers in need.

Braselton Farmers Market
continues weekly schedule
The Braselton Farmers Market
has shifted to weekly markets on
Fridays running through Septem
ber.
Monthly markets will resume
in October. There is no Decem
ber market. Each market starts at
4 p.m.
The market has also moved to
the Braselton Town Green, adja
cent to its previous location on
Davis St., to allow for more space.
BraseltonTech Spark
Sessions continue
BraseltonTech — a pri
vate-public initiative between the
Town of Braselton and the Ad
vanced Technology Development
Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech
— continues its "spark sessions"
at the Braselton Civic Center to
provide advice and support for
startup tech companies. The re
maining schedule is as follows:
June 15, July 13 and Aug. 10. All
sessions begin at 6 p.m.
The BraseltonTech workshops
are free and open to the public.
Space, however, is limited.

BraseltonTech hosting
monthly 'startup socials'
BraseltonTech has announced
a series of 'startup socials' on the
first Tuesday of each month from
6-8 p.m. at The Fishbowl at Flour
ish Taproom located in Braselton’s
1904 Building.
According to organizers, the
socials connect leaders of tech
startups with investors, entrepre
neurs and mentors.
BraseltonTech is a private-pub
lic initiative between the Town
of Braselton and the Advanced
Technology Development Center
(ATDC) at Georgia Tech to provide
advice and support for startup
tech companies.

HALL COUNTY
Hall County Fire Rescue
receives eight new engines
Hall County Fire Rescue received eight new fire engines
last week, completing the three-year plan to overhaul the
outdated engine fleet, according to a press release from the
county.
The eight new engines are the second order in a multi
year financing and purchasing plan to replace the aging fire
rescue fleet, a plan approved by the Hall County Board of
Commissioners in 2020.
This latest delivery was the second installment of a two-
phase fire engine replacement program, with the first set of
engines delivered in 2021. Now, all 16 engines provide new
technologies such as low voltage LED lighting systems,
additional compartment space for life-saving equipment,
hearing protection, intercom systems for firefighters and
environmentally friendly clean diesel engines.
The new engines are being fitted with lifesaving equip
ment, hoses and tools, and are expected to phase in. replac
ing the older engines, over the next several weeks as they
are completed.
The new engines come at a cost of $5.76 million, with
funding coming from the county’s fire services fund.
GWINNETT COUNTY
Gwinnett County summer
meals program runs to Aug. 1
Gwinnett County’s summer meals program is back, of
fering free grab-and-go breakfast and lunch through Aug. 1.
The meals are offered for families with children 18 and
under as well as those who are ages 19 and older with a
physical or mental impairment.
Meals can be picked up curbside at 21 sites from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday — including county holi
days — while supplies last.
Pick-up locations span the county, including distribu
tion sites in Berkeley Lake, Buford, Dacula, Duluth, Law-
renceville, Lilburn, Loganville. Norcross, Snellville. Stone
Mountain and Suwanee.

JACKSON CO.
Alligator spotted
in Jefferson
An alligator has been spotted in the Jackson Parkway area
in the City of Jefferson.
“This should go without saying, but DO NOT approach
alligators,” the city said in a social medial post. “According
to the National Wildlife Federation, American Alligators
can be found in the wetlands of the U.S. Southeast, as far
north as North Carolina and as far west as Eastern Texas.
These reptiles are usually found in slow-moving freshwater
rivers, and inhabit swamps, marshes, and lakes.
“They play an important role in wetland ecosystems,” the
city added.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
has been notified of the sighting.
