(Kimberly); and numerous great and great-great nieces
and nephews, cousins and other extended family along
with her pets, Bella and Kit-Kat.
Funeral service: Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 2 p.m.

officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemeteiy with
the Reverend Randall Hulsey officiating.
Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Andy Mar
lowe, Johnny Marlowe. Jake Marlowe. Judd Wilkes,
Wade Wilkes and Willie Pittmon. Honorary pallbearers
are Jonathan Thompson, Dan Ray, Travis Odom, Jay
Brooks, Doug Hulsey, Dustin Marlowe, A.J. Marlowe
and T.C. Makaya. Mrs. Holliman will be laid to rest
with the ashes of her closest companion of many year's,
her dog Sandy who passed away in November, 2022.

Nancy Kuhnel
JEFFERSON — Nancy Kuhnel, 88, Jefferson, passed
away Friday, May 12,2023, after an extended illness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and
Dora Clemens; a son, Eric Kuhnel; and grandson, Ken
neth Brazell.
She is survived by her sons and daughters, Debra Bra
zell, Sandra (Ken) Cook, Brenda Milburn, Bruce (Wen
dy) Kuhnel and Brian (Amy) Kuhnel; surviving grand
children, Feila Cook, Eric (Rachael) Brazell, Nicholas
Cook, Brent Kuhnel, Alyssa Kuhnel, Adam Kuhnel,
Ford Kuhnel, Cypress Kuhnel and Jesslyn Kuhnel; and
her only sister, Joan Rockwell, also survives her.
She is interred at Milton Fields, Milton, Ga.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation, in her
memoiy to either the Peace Place, Inc., Jefferson, Ga.,
or Stand Up for Seniors - Volunteer Aging Council,
Canton, Ga.

Eugene "Gene” Lackey
Eugene “Gene” Fackey, 88, a prodigious storyteller,
father and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday,
May 31, 2023.
Gene Fackey was born
to Fee Fackey and Naomi
Kleghorn Fackey in Ila on
March 21, 1935, the 9th of
their 10 children.
Gene lit up every room
and brought love and
laughter to many. He was
a graduate of Ila High
School class of 1953
where he was a 4-year
basketball letterman.
Gene went on to work
for Harmony Grove Mills
in Commerce before starting his illustrious sales career
at Fife and Casualty Insurance. Gene was also a top
performing salesman with General Cigar before retir
ing from Swisher International with distinction in 2000.
Gene was a faithful follower of Christ and a mem
ber of Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He
loved to help other people, tell stories about his youth,
and impress the ladies with his sharp wit. He was an
avid fisherman and hunter and a life-long fan of the
Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. He read daily
and continued learning until his final months.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; par
ents, Fee and Naomi; brothers, Tom and Henry; sisters,
Barbara, Ruth, Betty and Bonnie; and grandson, Jason
Fackey.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Sam) Green,
Watkinsville, and their children, Colt, Sawyer, and Sa
mantha; son, Danny (Stephanie) Fackey, Watkinsville,
and his children, Chris and Dusty; step-daughter, Wan
da (Doug) Bond, Commerce, and their children, Tyson,
Elliott, Dillon, Connor and Wyatt; and great-grandchil
dren, Nick, Fauren, Sadie, Max and Avery Green, Bran
don and Savannah Fackey, and Fukas and Dougy Bond.
Special thanks to Highland Hills Village for their ded
ication, outstanding service and many friendships over
the year's.

Ford and Stephens West with Craig Topple officiating.

Hazel Marie Lance
PENDERGRASS — Hazel Marie Fance, 84, Pender
grass, passed away on Monday, May 29,2023.
Mrs. Fance was bom
in Gainesville, a daughter
to the late Johnny Cortez
Ivester and the late Min
nie Fee Chambers Ivester.
Mrs. Fance was a home
maker and was a member
of the Calvary Baptist
Church in Gainesville.
In addition to her par
ents, Mrs. Fance was
preceded in death by her
sister, Ann; and her broth
ers, Johnny, Robert and
Jimmy.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Fance Jr., Pen
dergrass; children, Susan Melton and her husband Tim,
Nicholson, Betty Ann Dailey and her husband Jeff,
Commerce, and Jimmy Fance, Pendergrass; sisters,
Doris, Sylvia, Joyce and June; brothers, Ricky and Da
vid; grandchildren, Christopher Fance, Jennifer Martin,
Richard Dailey, Chadwick Fance, Ashleigh Floren
tine, Chassidy Fance, Hope Shaw and Hunter Melton;
and great-grandchildren, Ariel Fance, Gunner Fance,
Brooke Martin, Kylie Martin, Hunter Dailey, Cooper
Dailey, Rylin Armour, John Florentine IV, Jack Floren
tine and Taylor Shaw also survives.

the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Reverends
Raymond Fatty and Scott Martin officiating. The en
tombment will follow in the Galilee Christian Church

Kellis Claude "Bud” Rogers
WINDER — Kellis Claude “Bud” Rogers, 81, Wind
er, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Bud was bom in Mar
ble, N.C., to the late Eddis
and Claud B. Rogers and
moved to the Winder area
in the 1950s. He was a
member of Midway Chris
tian Church.
Bud was an independent
man, with a bit of a mis
chievous streak. He was
fiercely loyal, hardwork
ing, humble and always
looked out for others. He
loved deer hunting and
fishing.
He had many “Bud-isms” that his family will fond
ly remember: “Don’t take no wooden nickels”, “Don’t
wade in no dry branches”, “Don’t kill no dead snakes”,
and “If you need me, I’ll call you”.
Bud is survived by his wife of 62 year's, Helen Sue
Crowe Rogers, whom he loved unconditionally; his
children, Kenneth (Becky) Rogers, Deborah (Rich
ard) Hinshaw, Steven (Toni) Rogers and Yvonne Cain;
eight grandchildren, Rusty Rogers, Casey Rogers, Tay
lor Hinshaw, Baylee Rogers, Findsay Rogers, Brandi
Greeson, Christine Mosley, and Ashley Mosley; and 13
great-grandchildren.
The family welcomes flowers or a donation to Mid
way Chr istian Church in memory of Bud.

William "Bill” Donald Weatherly
ATHENS — William “Bill” Donald Weatherly, 81,
Athens (South Jackson community), entered rest Satur
day, June 3, 2023.
Mr. Weatherly was bom in Hoschton, the son of the
late William Owen Weatherly and the late Allie Mae
Hogan Weatherly. In addition to his parents, he is pre
ceded in death by his wife, Betty Yvonne Stone Weath
erly.
Mr. Weatherly retired as the band director at Athens
Christian School, Athens, was a veteran of the United
States Marine Corp, serving during the Vietnam War
and was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church,
Athens. When Mr. Weatherly was nine year's old, he
trusted his life to Jesus, something he was very proud
about.
Survivors include his sister, Frances Weatherly Nor
ris, Winder; nieces and nephews, Susan Dyar (husband,
Thomas), Kathy Marquess (husband, Steven), Faith
Dunlap, Davis Miller (wife, Jamie), Scott Weller (wife,
Wendy) and Fisa Weller; and several great-nieces and
nephews also survive.

Linda Jane Moore Whitehead
Finda Jane Moore Whitehead passed away Sunday,
May 28, 2023.
She was bom March
26, 1945 to the late Den
nis “Foots” and Evie Lee
Moore of Ila. She was
the older sister to Dennis
(Mahala) Moore of Col
bert. She was a longtime
member of Comer Baptist
Church.
She graduated from
Madison County High
School as salutatorian. Af
ter graduation she married
the love of her life, Ken
neth Whitehead. She was a devoted and loving wife for
59 years.
Linda made a warm and welcome home to anyone
who entered. She was the most giving, loving, unself
ish and nurturing mother to her children Mike (Allison)
Whitehead, Melissa (Jimmy) Yarbrough, Matt White-
head, Lee (Sadie) Brown and Ray (Suzanne) Brown.
Linda’s greatest joy was being Mimi to her grandchil
dren, Madeline and Will (Caroline Barrett) Whitehead,
Cory and Harlee Yarbrough, Drew and Audrey Brown,
Kaylee Brown and Tyler Wright.
She spent countless hours going to ball games, live
stock shows, shopping, cooking, decorating and work
ing in her yard. She loved every minute of it. Linda set
a precedence for her children and grandchildren in the
way that she lived her life: hardworking, loving, strong,
grateful and rarely complaining during trying times.
Her heart was full of giving and serving others espe
cially people with mental and physical disabilities. This
passion brought Linda’s dear friend, who she cherished,
Nelida Lizardi, into her life. Linda also leaves behind
her dear friend Irene Shupe, Heaven is a more beautiful
place with Linda in it.
Graveside service: Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at
11:30 a.m. at the Comer Cemetery.

from 10 until 11 .m. at the funeral home.

Ted Mack Whitlock
JEFFERSON — Ted Mack Whitlock, 71, Jefferson,
entered rest Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Mr. Whitlock was born
in Jefferson, the son of the
late Guy Feonard Whit
lock and the late Fois Hun-
tsinger Whitlock. In addi
tion to his parents, he was
preceded in death by two
sisters and seven brothers.
Mr. Whitlock retired
from Jefferson Mills and
was a member of Faith
Baptist Church, Jefferson.
Survivors include two
sisters, Ellen Whitlock,
Jefferson, and Quida Wood, Barrow County; and several
nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside service: Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 2 p.m.
at Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, with the
Reverend Eric Shelton officiating.
