Carol Ann Bennett
GILLSVILLE — Carol Ann Bennett, 62, passed
away peacefully at her home in Gillsville on Sunday,
July 16,2023.
Bom on January 2,
1961, Carol is the daugh
ter of the late Charlie E.
Bennett and Nora Rogers
Bennett.
She is survived by her
sister, Marcella (Lew
is) Whitlock, Gillsville;
her brother, Eddie Ben
nett, Gillsville/Decatur;
her loving nieces, Cin
dy (Chad) Williamson
and Tracy (Jeff) Rider;
grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Kallie Williamson,
Sage Rider, Sterling Rider and Kolton Williamson;
and her great-grand-niece, Bella Rider.
Carol spent many happy Saturday night suppers
with her aunt, Gussie Hulsey, and uncle, Fred Hulsey
who also survive Carol.
A host of friends and cousins survive Carol, es
pecially life-long friends Kathy Segars and Sharon
Carter. Carol’s workplace was made special by her
buddy, Kathy Perdue. Carol was a member of Gills
ville Baptist Church.
Funeral service: Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at
2 p.m. at the Gillsville Baptist Church with Pastor
Dr. Shannon Rhodes officiating. Special music will
be rendered by Denise Smith and Jeanne Webb. Hon
ored to be pallbearers are Chad Williamson, Kolton
Williamson, Jeff Rider, Sterling Rider, Zach Segars
and Nolan Carter. She will be laid to rest at the Gills
ville Cemetery next to her parents.
Family to receive friends: Wednesday, July 19,
2023, from 1 until 2 p.m. in the church vestibule.
Thanks to so many friends and family who sup
ported Carol in her two-year battle with cancer. Spe
cial thanks, to Donna Minish, who was not only a
caregiver but a dear friend. Carol never lacked for
anything during her last days.
We are eternally thankful to everyone who pro
vided food, cards, flowers, prayers, cut the grass and
most especially companionship. Carol knew she was
well-loved.

Rainey Addison “Wisdom” Davis
HOSCHTON — Rainey Addison “Wisdom” Davis,
86, Hoschton, entered rest Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
Mr. Davis was bom
in Buena Vista, the son
of the late Floyd “Rag”
Davis and the late Nettie
Ruth McMickle Davis.
In addition to his parents,
Mr. Davis was preceded
in death by his first wife,
Martha Davis; three sis
ters, Doris Powell, Betty
Fomian and Faye Drew;
and three brothers, Ce
cil “Corky” Davis, Olin
“Bo” Davis and Dennis “Dick” Davis.
Mr. Davis was a graduate of the University of
Georgia, worked for Gold Kist in Georgia and Ari
zona, and was a manager of a cotton gin and feed lot
in Lockney, Texas. After retiring from the agriculture
industry he became a real estate investor. Rainey was
an avid UGA sports fan, golfer, poker player and ping
pong enthusiast.
“Pops” is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bernice
L. Davis, Hoschton; one daughter, Kimberley Reed
(Ron), Jefferson; two sons, Christopher Camp (Ana),
Sugar Hill, and Robbie Camp (Ashley), Hoschton;
seven grandchildren, Aaron Reed, Jefferson, Rainey
Reed, Jefferson, Hayden Camp, Sugar Hill, Sophia
Camp, Hoschton, Emery Camp, Sugar Hill, Aiden
Golovan, Sugar Hill, and Ariel Golovan, Sugar Hill;
sister, Jewell Murrah (Jack), Colquitt; several nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and close friends survive.
Funeral service: Friday, July 21, 2023, at 3 p.m. at
Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Sikes offi
ciating. Burial will follow with Military Honors pro
vided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard
in Evans Memory Gardens. Gentlemen honored as
pallbearers are Aaron Reed, Chad Gerrells, Jacob
Gerrells, Vince Barrett, Robert Lee and Dave Moon.

Inez Elliott Green
Inez Elliott Green, 81, wife of Alan Taft Green, died
on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
Bom in Fannin Coun
ty, she was the daughter
of the late Manuel and
Ola Elliott and was also
preceded in death by six
brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Green was a faith
ful member of Union Bap
tist Church and a home
maker.
Survivors in addition
to her husband, Alan,
of 54 years; include one
daughter, Karen (Zachary)
Fletcher; foster daughter, Sara (Andrew) Duggins; sis
ter, Ruby Nichols; brother, Paul Elliott; six grandchil
dren, Walker and Elbe Wilson Noah, Drew Fletcher and
Lily and Jenna Duggins; special niece, Wanda Rich;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service: Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. at
Lord and Stephens Danielsville Chapel with the Revs.
Billy Owensby and Scott Adams officiating. Pallbearers
will be Ricky Autry, Geroge Chandler, Ricky Brooks,
Doug Lee, Tim Dobbs and Wayne Chandler. Interment
will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nancy Ruth Legere Thomason
JEFFERSON — Nancy Ruth Legere Thomason, 91,
Jefferson, formerly of Perry, passed away on Sunday,
July 16, 2023.
Mrs. Thomason was
bom in Barbourville,
Ken., a daughter to the late
Ledford Clint Leger and
the late Fannie Lunsford
Leger.
Mrs. Thomason was a
teacher and media spe
cialist at Southside Ele
mentary and Perry Middle
School in Perry, where she
was also a member of the
Perry United Methodist
Church.
Mrs. Thomason was a member of the Jefferson First
United Methodist Church in Jefferson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomason was pre
ceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Louis
Thomason; and two grandsons, Stephen Kinnas and
Jacob Cleveland.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Mortenson
and her husband Kerry, Jefferson, Elizabeth Ann Schot-
ta and her husband Steve, Palm Coast, Fla., Kathryn
Louise Cleveland, Griffin, Janet Lee Thomason, Green
Cove Springs, Fla., and Jill Thomason Gilchrist and her
husband Rodney, Trussville, Ala.; son, James Fredrick
Thomason, St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Robert
Kerry Mortensen and his wife Sue, Bogota, N.J., Mat
thew James Mortensen and his wife Sara, Athens, Ste
phen Schotta, Rogers, Ark., Natalie Hernandez and her
husband Angel, Wyoming, Nancy Russell, Dallas, Tex
as, Will Cleveland, Flagstaff, Ariz., Rachel Clissold and
her husband Matthew, Alexandria, Va., Hannah Pritch
ett and her husband Drew, Pelham, Ala., Chelsea Bass
and her husband Tyler, Pinson, Ala., and Sam Kinnas
and his wife Kaitlyn, Mesa, Colo.; and 12 great-grand
children also survive.
A private memorial service will be held by the fam
ily on a later date. Mrs. Thomason will be laid to rest
beside her husband in the Georgia National Cemetery
in Canton.

Olive Lucille Westfall
GAINESVILLE — Olive Lucille Westfall, 86, for
merly of Harpursville, N.Y., passed away Wednesday,
July 19,2023, at The Oaks at Limestone in Gainesville,
surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Westfall was bom
October 22, 1936, in De
posit, New York, and lived
for many years in Har
pursville, New York. In
her retirement, she lived
in Santa Cruz, California,
and Chase City, Virginia,
before moving to Georgia
to be with family in her
later years.
An avid gardener in her
spare time, she was retired
from the State of New
York, where she worked with special needs children at
Broome Developmental Center.
She was twice married, first to David C. Neff for 27
years; and then to Robert Westfall for 26 years.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, David C.
Neff and Robert Westfall; son, David Allen Neff; par
ents Kermit and Lucille Holdredge; and brother, Ralph
Hott.
Mrs. Westfall is survived by her son and daughters-
in-law, Donald and Nora Neff, Statham, and Lori Neff,
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, David An
drew Neff (Amy), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dwight
Neff (Brittany) Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Thor Neff
(Toni), BekkahNeff Riecke and JedidiahNeff (Nicole),
all of Georgia; great-grandchildren, David Alexander
Neff, Adelie Neff, Elliott Neff, Grady Neff, Yasmin
Riecke, Miguel Riecke, Philomena Riecke, Leonidas
Neff and Riley Neff; brothers, Wayne Holdredge (El
len), Ballwin, Missouri, and Gary Holdredge, West Is-
lip, New York; and sister, Betty Sizemore of Phoenix,
Arizona.
Family to receive friends: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday,
July 28, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Park Bra
selton Funeral Home, Braselton.
Interment will be at Perch Pond Hill Cemetery,
Nineveh, N.Y., at the convenience of the family.
