- “MWTHEREAS, I have received official information
Vv that on the 15th inst. in the county of Haber
sham, in this State, a murder was committed on the
body ofCulvirt J. Hanks by John W. Thompson and
Elbttdtfe G Harris; and it b.-ieg repiesonted to me that
Said Harris lias escaped and fled from justice —I have
therefore thought proper to issue this my proclamation,
hereby ottering a reward of THREE HUNDRED
DOLLARS, to any person or persons who may appre
hend and deliver the said fugitive to the sheriff or Jai
lor of said county of Habersham, that he may be tried
for the offence with which he is charged. And Ido
moreover charge and require all officers civil and mili
tary In thia Sate, lobe vigilant in aiding to bring said
offender to justice.
The said Elbridge G. Harris is represented to be
" about 5 feet Bor 9 niches high, rather spare made, dark
akin, sallow complexion, high forehead, a long thin
face, the skin of which is vciy rough; a clown cast and
very forbidding countenance.
In testimony whereof, 1 have hereunto set my hand
and caused the great seal of the State to be affix
ed thereto, at the Mate House in Milledgeville,

put the idea of a violotion of the law out of the
question, he will receive all Bills under five dollars,
as the Agent ofthe person paying, and in no case
authorised to consider it a payment until lie shall
have presented the Bill at the Bank and received
specie for it.
He also renews the request that persons indebted
to him would adjust their dues in this way with
out delay.
