Mr. Editor: — Below you will find a ticket which is selected by numerous friends to the successof the Union candidates for Congress. This ticket combines every ingredient calcu lated to fit it for the undivided sup-port of the Union party of Georgia, and is desired to be laid before the people, through the columns of your paper, in view of the Democratic Conven tion in May next. I cannot permit myself to close this commu nication, without a more particular allusion to, one of those gentlemen.—l mean Gen. B. Graves of Newton. Georgia does not possess a man who can do her more credit on the floor •ofCongress, than Gen. 'Graves; and the Union Democratic Republican party-of Georgia, will find in him a Jefferson of her principles. Gen. Graves would long since, have been the boast and pride of the Union party of Geor gia, but for his unfortunate residence, (New-, ton.) tied down as he has been by an overwhel ming, tyrannical majority, which can only be unshackled'by the general ticket of the Union •party of Georgia. £ J.et us apply the remedy. CANADA. The rumors from the, frontiers are crowding on us every day—but little reliance is to be placed on them. The reported bloody battle near Malden turns out to be a mere rumor. No doubt there is much excitement along the whole’line of the frontier—and that there is just cause to apprehend that-our neutrality may be violated. To meet the emergency it will be seen that the House of Representatives have passed what is called the Neutrality Bill, j a copy of which will be found in our columns to-day.— Washington Ckron. NEW MAIL ROUTES IN GEORGIA. We are gratified to learn that our Represen tative in Congress, the Honorable J. F. Cleve ; land in conformity with his usual promptness and faithful attention to the important interests of his constituents, has presented a resolution in the House of Representatives, instructing the Committee on Post Offices and Post Roads, io inquire into the expediency of establishing a 1 mail route from Carnesville, via Jefferson, to Lawrenceville, in Gwinnett county; also, a route from Rome, in Floyd county, Georgia, via Gaylesville, Lynchburg, Van Buren,War renton, lo Summerville, in Alabama; also, a route from Campbellton, in Campbell county, via Burnt Hickory, in Paulding county, Par ker’s-Cross Roads, to Cassville, in Cass.coun ty, Georgia. Should the Mail routes proposed, be estab lished, they will greatly promote the interest of the people of that section of Georgia, and add great facilities to the transportation of news in that part of the State, and from which consid erable profit will be derived to the Post Office department. We should be pleased to see a motion made by some of our representatives in relation to the re-establishing the route between this and Athens. In consequence of some irregularity or failure, we believe, on the part of the con tractor,.the papers from here byway of Ea ton’.on, Mad.son and Athens, seldom, if over, ■ regularly reach fheir destination in due time. In fact we afe tmapprised of there being now any regular mail direct from this to Madison - and Athens, consequently, the papers and let-! tors mailed here arc very much delay'd from the circuitous routes they arc taken, to inter sect the regular mails running from Madison and Athens to the North-western part of the State.- -Federal Union, BRANCH BANK OF DARIEN. I his institution recommenced business in this city on the Ist inst. We learn that the board discounted a considerable amount on 60 days paper, during the last week. In the present pressure of the times, the ac commodations to be had at this bank, wo doubt not, will be very welcomely received and quite btßieficial to such of our citizens as are necessitated to borrow money.
