Gayton invited to attend lecture
Special to the HHJ
Dr. Johnny Gayton of
Eyesight Associates was
invited to lecture at the
International College of
Surgeons on Saturday, June
24 in Nashville, Tenn.
He presented lectures on
the “Applications of the Alcon
Acrysof ReSTOR Intaocular
Lens” and “Surface Laser
Treatment to Correct
Residual Astigmatism in
ReSTOR Patients.” The
ReSTOR IOL is a lens that
is placed in the eye during
cataract surgery to replace
one’s own natural lens.
When the natural lens
becomes cloudy, you have
a cataract. Dr. Gayton also
uses the ReSTOR IOL in
patients that have macu
lar degeneration. Macular
degeneration is the deterio
ration of the inside lining of
the of the eyeball. Currently
more than 1.8 million people
live with an advanced stage
of macular degeneration
(ARMD). ARMD patients
typically have reduced cen
tral vision and rely primarily
on their side vision to func
tion in everyday life. This
in turn affects all aspects of
their life and decreases their
quality of life.
Placing the ReSTOR IOL
into eyes of patients with
ARMD may help improve
their functional vision, thus
improving their quality of
life.
Eyesight Associates is
presently participating in
a clinical research study

using the ReSTOR IOL in
patients with ARMD. Dr.
Gayton is considered one
of the nations’ foremost
surgeons in the use of the
ReSTOR lens and was invit
ed to participate in this pro
fessional program because
of his extensive experience
in performing refractive and
cataract surgery.
Eyesight Associates is
located at 216 Corder Road
in Warner Robins, with
branch offices in Fort Valley,
Cordele and Fitzgerald.
