Marsay Holman, 35, and Carolyn Johnson, 34, both of Lithonia, had been fighting Sunday when Johnson left with their three daughters, aged 6, 14 and 16, DeKalb County police said. Holman jumped into her sport utility vehicle as it was leaving, according to police. Holman shot Johnson and told their daughters to get out of the vehicle. It appears that Holman then shot himself, police spokesman Herschel Grangent said. Cox, Taylor taco off In final debate ATLANTA (AP) - The Democratic race for governor surged into the homestretch on Sunday as Secretary of State Cathy Cox and Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor took their part ing shots in the final debate of the campaign. The pair hit largely famil iar themes. Taylor said that Cox’s shifting positions on issues like gay marriage show she lacks the credibility needed for the state’s top spot. Cox questioned Taylor’s ethics, saying he has used his powerful position in state government to benefit members of his family and wealthy campaign contribu tors. Cox and Taylor are battling for their party’s nomination to challenge Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue in November. Lt. CLYDE SHANKLE BYRON - Clyde Shankle, 56, passed away on Sunday, Julyl6. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today from 7- 9 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Shankle was bom on March 12, 1950 in Decatur, Ala. His parents, Barney Kelsey Shankle and Lula Mae Shankle, preceded him in death. JAMES ROBERT “J-R.” PERRY - James Robert “J.R.” infant son (three days) of J. Paul and Rebecca L. Driver, died at the Medical Center on July 13. Graveside Services were held Sunday at Perry Memorial Gardens. Rev. Frank Clark and Rev. Mark Fogarty officiated. The family received friends at Watson-Hufit Funeral Home Sunday. Other survivors include; maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Frances Thompson; pater nal grandparents, Danny and Melba Driver of Perry; great grandparents, Harold and Margaret Cook, Ruth Driver; aunts and uncles, Ande Thompson, Jana Schultz, Margaret Yawn, James Driver, Joseph Driver, and Leslie Hosch.
