HOUSTON DAILY JOURNAL Fort Valley resident wins 'Dream Home' contest Special to the Journal LIZELLA - Vivial Cannon from Fort Valley won a newly built, $325,000-valued home. Her winning ticket was pulled Sunday from among more than 3,970 others dur ing the second annual St. Jude “Dream Home”® give away. The St. Jude Dream Home is located in the Parkland subdivision in Lizella. It was built by Moon Family Properties with sup port from various local sup pliers and housing subcon tractors. Local St. Jude patient, Tyler Rewis, drew the win ner of the home along with 11 other prizes, including SI,OOO worth of gasoline, courtesy of Davis Oil Co., a one-year family membership to Perry Country Club and SI,OOO gift certificate to The Vineville Salon. “We’re really proud about the success of the second annual ‘St. Jude Dream Home’ in Macon,” said Courtney Buffington, event marketing representative for St. Jude. “We are very appreciative to Moon Family Properties, 13 WMAZ, No. 1 Country 99 WDEN, NewsTalk94o, BB&T banks, Hancock Fabrics, the volun teers, local businesses and local residents whose gener ous support made this event possible.” The St. Jude Dream Home raised $397,200 for research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tenn., was found ed by the late entertainer Danny Thomas. The hospi tal is an internationally rec ognized biomedical research center dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic dis eases of childhood. The hospital’s work is sup ported through funds raised by the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities. All St. Jude patients are treated regardless of their ability to pay.
