From page 3B
Three years later, beautiful
little 6-year-old Jonßenet
Ramsey was sexually assault
ed and beaten to death in the
basement of her own home
on Christmas night, 1996.
In the years since, tens of
thousands of other children
have been murdered and
abducted. During my term
of service on the Attorney
General’s Board on Missing
and Exploited Children, I
was dismayed by what I saw
happening to innocent boys
and girls.
There was a time when the
culture interceded on behalf
of kids to protect them from
anything harmful or immor
al. Movies were censored,
music was monitored and
young couples were chaper
oned. But this current gen
eration is exposed to every
kind of evil and violence.

it’s better to drink it than
to crave it.” I haven’t found
this reference in the scrip
tures, but many people will
justify their drinking by
referring to various passages
in the Bible.
One most prominently
used was Jesus turning the
water into wine at the wed
ding in Canaan. Another
was Paul’s suggestion to
Timothy that he take a “lit
tle” wine for his infirmities.

alcohol.

How can parents protect

By watching them every

Putting right names
with right faces
Remembering names
is not too difficult;
not is remembering
faces. The trouble I have i
is putting right names
with the right faces.
For some people this is
no problem. Once intro
ductions have been made,
no matter how much
time has elapsed between
meetings, they have the
ability to recognize “pass
ing acquaintances.”
I am thinking in par
ticular of proprietors of
a certain business estab
lishment who seemingly fit
into this category. It took
me longer to learn who was
behind the counter than
it took them to learn me,
even though they had more
than several new people to
learn.
Ephesians 5.18 con
cludes: “Do not get drunk
on wine, which leads to
debauchery. Instead, be
filled with the spirit.”
