The article was intended as “background” information only. We apologize for the confusion we created. - The editor Also, in further clarification of the picture that ran in Friday’s Journal entitled “At a glance.” According to Capt. Heath Dykes of the Perry Police Department, it was a traffic stop for loud music in the Kroger parking in which three illegal immigrants were detained. The driver, Dykes said, was cited for loud music, no license, no insurance and taken to jail, while the other two were later cited for being here illegally and released. Most of the dealers - of cocaine or methamphetamine - were sentenced Thursday for possession with intent to distribute the controlled sub stances. Only one was from Houston County. He was Danny Lee Johnson, 41, of Kathleen, who was sentenced to 135 months (11 years, three months) in federal prison without parole for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. Sonny Perdue was back in his home county on Saturday, with a crowd of more than 2,000 waiting to greet him at his third annu al fish fry. The event was set to begin at noon, but the lines were already long at 11:30 a.m. Held in the Miller- Murphy-Howard building at the Georgia National Fairgrounds, it was a rallying point for a number of candi dates, with a variety of campaign posters covering the walls. Both of Georgia’s U.S. Senators, Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isaacson, were on stage, as were Bth District Congressional Candidate Mac Collins and Casey Cagle, who is the party’s nominee for lieutenant governor. According to Peterman, Lamar County Sheriff's Department stopped Terry for failure to main tain lane and a defective taillight on Interstate 75. Perry Police responded Thursday night to a car ver sus motorcycle accident at Sam Nunn Boulevard and W.F. Ragin Street at about 9:26 p.m. According to Perry Police Capt. Bill Phelps, the driver of a Pontiac Sunbird was on W.F. Ragin at Sam Nunn, stopped, looked, observed a motorcycle and then slowed in an attempt to let it go by. Instead, “He was struck by the motorcycle, which caught fire on impact and threw the driver over by (the nearby) Advance Auto Parts (store),” Phelps said. “It (the motorcycle) (then) burned up on scene.” The driver of the motor cycle, Kyle Garbisch, 28, had some broken bones, but was alright other than that, Phelps said.
