How do you plan fried fish
and hushpuppies for 2000?
Darrell Edge is a man of
few words, and in this case
he answers in one word:
“Arithmetic.”

Sonny Perdue’s fish fry
on Saturday, Edge and a
team of hardworking cooks
from Jack’s Place, a south
Georgia fish restaurant, had
a remarkably simple system
going in a back room that
opened toward the horse
stables.
Hushpuppies were sizzling
in one big cooker, while fish
fillets cooked in two others.
The slaw was already made,
and a big team of volunteers
was piling plates high.
Would Edge share the
secret of the batter? He had
one word answer for that
question, too.
No.
