However, the objection of surrounding property own ers to PUDs is the density of homes being built on the developed land. “The roads and the rest of the infrastructure are just not adequate,” McDannald says. “We’re concerned about septic tanks and sew age leaks, and about storm water drainage. Perry’s just not prepared.” With annexation. Perry will provide sewage service to the houses being built. Houses in the area currently have septic tanks. “Sewage is the show stop per,” says Mary Lynn Dukes, referring to the dynamics of growth in the county. “Perry provides it. Warner Robins provides it. Houston County doesn’t. “ “When septic tanks need pumping, the options for where to take the stuff are narrowing,” she said. McDannald is also con cerned that with the rapid real-estate development of Langston, tax assessments could go up, and those who already live along the road could find themselves with higher property tax bills.
