At Flint Energies,
our outage-reporting
system was designed
to help you. 1
However, we need your help in return. If you
have an outage and your current phone number
is not in the Flint Energies’ outage-reporting
system, we will not be able to automatically
track your location and dispatch crews to
the correct location.
By having this information in our

outage, depending upon its severity, anywhere from 100 to 10,000 plus members could call
at once to report their outage. Utilities are faced with the option of either letting their members hear a busy signal or giving them an automated system to immediately answer and
report their outage. This automated system is the most effective ways to report an outage. It can take up to 10,000 calls at once without a busy signal. The system immediately
prints an outage ticket with all the pertinent member and electric distribution system data that our system operators need to dispatch crews to your area.

If You Experience An Outage
Q. My power if off. What should I do?
A. First, check your home’s breaker panel and any outdoor disconnects to make sure the
outage is not due to a tripped breaker in your fuse box panel. Next, call or look to see if your
neighbors’ power is off. This will help you determine if the problem exists inside your
home or on Flint lines. Calling 1.888.354.6836 to report a power outage is the fastest, most
accurate way to report your outage. If you need to report an emergency like a downed
power line or electrical equipment that is sparking and dangerous, please call immediately
at 1.888.354.6836.
Q. Who do I call to report my outage?
A. Calling 1.888.354.6836 to report a power outage is the fastest, most accurate way to report
your outage. A ticket with all the pertinent customer and system data is printed within
seconds in our 24-hour system operations center from your call. Employees in this center
dispatch crews to your area to restore power.
Q. Do I need to call more than once?
A. Call any time you have a power outage. We are here to serve you. Once you report the
outage, try not to call Flint or the automated outage line again unless you have an emergency.
Be assured that our crews are doing everything possible to restore your power as soon as
possible. Unnecessary calls prevent those who have not reported their outage from getting
through or generate multiple outage tickets for the same location.
Q. What information do I need to have ready before I call?
A. Call 1.888.354.6836 to report a power outage. This is am automated line, so listen
carefully and follow the voice prompts and be prepared to enter either the telephone number
at the outage location or the account number from your Flint Energies’ bill.
Q. Why is an automated outage line faster
than talking to a live person?
A. We encourage members to use 1.888.354.6836 whenever they need to report a power
outage, especially during severe storms. Flint has 224 employees, with many of those
working in outside jobs (i.e. line personnel, staking technicians, metering technicians, etc.)
This leaves less than half of the employees that could staff telephones. During a power
