Will Hornets be among the playoff few?

It was a season that often
baffled the 30-year coaching
veteran in charge. Perhaps
the biggest baffle of them all was,
after one early frustration after
another, that the Westfield Hor
nets were among the final four
teams left playing in the GISA
Class AAA semifinals.
2005 was a hard football season
to describe for the Hornets, a pro
gram certainly used to winning
its share of games but still look
ing for that first state champion
ship.
"As far as the regular season
goes, we came out with six wins
and then won two in the play
offs," said Ronnie Jones, the Hor
nets head coach who earned ca
reer win No. 250 last year. "We
had averaged about seven or eight
wins during the regular season. I
think at some times it's tough to
compare other years.
"It was kind of a different sea
son in that we beat some teams
