But he said more needs to be done, calling on Congress to pass legislation autho rizing military tribunals to try suspected terrorists like alleged Sept. 11 mas termind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammamed, who has been moved to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for trial. “In Atlanta, you know the pain of terrorism first hand. This summer marked the 10th anniversary of the bombing in Centennial Olympic Park. That was the act* of one mad man,” Bush said, referring to anti government extremist Eric Rudolph, who 'was con victed of the park bombing and others in Atlanta and Birmingham, Ala. “Next Monday is the fifth anniversary on the attack on our nation. Northern Circuit Superior Court Judge Thomas Hodges’ sentence for Daryl Brown was a win for the defense, said Brown’s law yer, Eugene Harper. There never was any doubt that Brown, 30, would be convicted of the June 2, 2005, shooting of Sgt. Tommy Williams, Harper said. Instead, the defense attorney focused on getting a shorter sentence than the one prosecutors had offered for a plea bargain: 70 years, he said. If Hodges had made the prison terms consecutive - one beginning when another expired - Brown’s overall sentence would add up to 90 years. Instead, Hodges made the sentences concur rent, except for the firearm charges, which by law can not run concurrently. Brown gave up his right to a jury trial, instead opting to allow a judge to decide guilt.
