REUNION

Linebacker Johnny Farms
picked off a pass and fullback
Scott Taylor had a 54-yard
touchdown run.
Baldwin also failed to
score against Perry the fol
lowing week. The Panthers
won 34-0 with quarterback
Keith Fleming throwing a
75-yard touchdown pass to
Joe Scott.
Northside squeaked past
Perry 3-0 in week No. 3
despite giving up more yards
(171 to 106).
The Eagles made that win
ning field goal with seven
seconds to go ... on their
third try thanks to penalties.
The Panthers bounced
back at home with a 14-0 win
over Peach County. Thanks
to the blocked field goal
Perry overcame 346 yards by
Crisp County and won 14-10.
Those wins got Perry off to a
2-0 start in the region.
Perry needed just one touch
down - Bridges recovered a
blocked punt in the end zone
- to beat Jones County 7-0.
It would take more, though,
to beat Americus 20-14, but
there was another Fleming
to-Scott long connection of
77 yards, and the Panthers
were 4-0 in the region.
Afterwards it was two more

The second was a hard-hit

of Amber Conlon’s glove for
just a second but that’s all it
took for that runner to reach
safety.
The strong argument is if
she fields it clean, she throws
her out. But in the “bigs”

In these days, regions had
their own playoffs. Perry
finished tied with Americus
at 6-1, but the head-to-head
win gave it the league title
and top seed. It also meant
an immediate rematch with
Dublin, fourth in the region
haps as in reward to the bat
ter for his or her power.
The only other Coffee
County runner reached on a
cut-and-dried error. The rest
either popped, flied, were
thrown out, or were fanned.
In fact, 10 did just that -
were struck out by Barrett
who in turn improved her
record to 2-0.

Perry had 314 yards of
offense in the rematch, but
lost six fumbles and threw
an interception. The Irish
won again 21-14 to end the
Panther run at 8-3.

“For some reason we
don’t hit that pitcher very
well,” said Warner Robins
head softball coach Brenda
Arnett, a reference to when
the Demonettes faced and
beat her at Coffee County.
Proof of that was the fact
Warner Robins managed
only two hits off her in three
innings.
In the fourth, they made
some noise.
Graham led things off with
a single. Conlon reached
via an error and then Sam
Snipes turned her bunt to
move them over into a single
to load the bases.
Cherie White singled home

an error to load the bases
again and then Kittery Maine
