Rickie Spivey, center, was guest of honor at a recent luncheon held by the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 24, at The Swanson. Spivey was home from Iraq for a visit with her family, including her three children. Also in the photo are Joy Albright and Penny Ingram. The Auxiliary has made a special project of expressing appreciation to Spivey and providing moral support for her and her family. Community Events ■ CANCER SUMMITT - Pastors, clergy and spiri tual leaders from all area congregations are invited to gain expertise and learn about resources to help their members who have cancer at “Cancer Summit 2006.” The program begins with a pre conference workshop, Friday 6-8 p.m. and continues with a full day of programming on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon. The fee is sls per person and includes lunch. Ballinger, who has been a club member for five years, will begin her term on Oct. 1. “I am looking forward to serving as the leader of such a dedicated group of individuals in the coming year,” Ballinger said. “I am proud of the work we do for children locally, and I hope to see our club strive in the year ahead.” The Noon Optimist Club of Warner Robins has been supporting the youth of Warner Robins for 55 years. It is the oldest civic club in the city, having been chartered on Oct. 1, 1951. Optimist Clubs are known for “ Bringing Out The Best In Kids”. In some communities, clubs con iduct schol ars h i p programs, sports activities, mentoring programs, after-school programs, and child hood cancer initiatives.
