Safe House to hold
candelight vigil
Representatives from the
Salvation Army Safe House would
like to invite others to join them
in their Candelight Vigil, designed,
according to a release, to promote
community awareness for Domestic
Violence Awareness Month.
The vigil is set for Saturday at 6
p.m. at the Salvation Army Church
located at 96 Thomas Blvd., in
Warner Robins.
Gator fans to gather
at Olde Time buffet
Gator fans will be gathering at
the Olde Time Country Buffet on
Tuesday at 7 p.m. for dinner and the
reorganizing of the Middle Georgia
Gator Club.
All fans of the Gators are wel

Church to offer
blessings for animals
Pets will be blessed at St.
Christopher's Episcopal Church,
which is located at 1209 Macon
Road in Perry, Tuesday, starting at
6:30 p.m.
The annual Blessing of the
Animals is in observance of the Feast
of St. Francis of Assisi. Fr. William
Anderson says that all animals are
welcome at this service.
Marching band invite
to be held at stadium
The Heart of Georgia Marching
Band Invitational will be held Oct. 7
from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. in McConnell-
Talbert Stadium.
The cost is $5 per adult, $3 per
child. The event will be hosted by the
Warner Robins High School Band
Boosters, Inc., and will feature bands
from all over the southeastern part of
the United States competing against
one another.

governor honors

Arthur Elementary School
was singled out for excel
lence. That, leaving out the
other schools listed below,
was not entirely our fault
as the information came
straight from a- release
from the governor’s office.
The below, with the cor
rect information, is from
the Houston County Board
of Education. We apologize
for the incovenience.

Student Achievement.

Bomb threat a hoax

are still investigating a
bomb threat hoax called in
to Houston County High
School Wednesday morn
ing.
“We’ll see if we can trace
the call,” said Maj. John
Wagner.
Wagner said about 10
officers were dispatched
to the school about 7:30

Kings Chapel Elementary,
Linwood Elementary,
Quail Run Elementary and
Huntington Middle are six
of 269 schools recognized
across the state for improv
ing and promoting excel
lence in student academic
achievement.
The test scores of 2,072
Georgia schools were
reviewed to determine the
schools with the most sig
nificant academic achieve
ment.
Matt Arthur Elementary
is one of only 15 schools
state-wide to win two
awards.
Two schools return as
winners again this year,
having won awards in 2005.
Quail Run Elementary
won a gold award in 2005
because at least 97 per
cent of its students met or
exceeded standards.
