things out with a strikeout - a strikeout
that got past the catcher enabling her to
reach.
Kittery Maine followed and doubled her
to third.
An error allowed both to score, which
would have happened anyway as Lauren
Graham, who was left on base, singled
after that.
Warner Robins added its final run in
the sixth on back-to-back-to-back singles
by Lauren Graham, Kristin Graham and
Conlon - the latter picking up the RBI.

the Lady Eagles as for Warner Robins.
Their game was similar to the Demonettes’
in that it was close until a four-run out
burst.
Of course that came from the home team
and not Northside. It came in the third. Up
until then, the score was tied at 1.
The Lady Bulldogs, who finished with
nine hits to the Lady Eagles’ four, scored
one in the first. Northside answered with
one, its only run, in the second.
Dutchtown added single runs in the
fourth and sixth.
“This team continues to work hard and
play hard,” said Northside head coach
Mitch Horton, “and never give up.”
Leading the Lady Eagles’ effort were
Allison Dickey, who had two of Northside’s
hits and Ashley Jackson who had a double
and recorded a RBI.
He said it
"We’ve had disappointing finishes in
the first two races in the Chase. The
accident last week was a devastating
blow to our title hopes. Those things hap
pen .... Maybe well dominate the last
eight races, who knows?”

popped up that Clearman
caught from first base and
turned into a double play.
Sherwood had its best
opportunity in the fourth
with a runner on and one
out.
The visitors bunted the
ball back to Gilliam, who
again tried for an out at
second base. She was unsuc
cessful, and with errors on
two relay throws Sherwood
had two in scoring position.
Gilliam struck out the
next batter, then threw a
pitch high and to the back
stop. Catcher Jennifer Wrye
got to the ball, and Gilliam
took her throw at the plate
for the third out.
“We do cover our mis
takes,” said coach Rodney
Culverhouse. “We don’t fall
apart.”

up with 1-AAA, and 1-AAA
only has three teams.
So the Hornets’ state run
begins on Oct. 7 at Southern
Pines in Dublin against the
second place team from
Region 2-AAA. The 2-AAA
runner-up does not have to
play Oct. 3 either as it is
matched up with 4-AAA,
which only has two teams.
Which team is first, second
and third in 2-AAA is unde
cided at presstime between
First Presbyterian, Stratford

Whoever Westfield plays,
it will be a best-of-3 series
with the winner moving on
to the semifinals the follow
ing weekend.
