A shelter for homeless men was opened in 1999 on adjoining property. jme job at a time m LOCAL FMMS student places second in peanut contest Special to the Journal Alysha Mitchell, an eighth-grader at Feagin Mill Middle School, recently placed second in the Plains, Peanuts and a President postcard contest sponsored by the Jimmy Carter National Historic Sites Education Program. Winners are invited to attend the Plains Peanut Festival Saturday-Sunday. They will be presented with a book autographed by President Carter on Saturday. The winners are also invited to participate in the Peanut Festival Parade with Mr. Peanut. Winning entries may be used as promotional mate rials and may be featured on the NHS Education Community Events ■ CANCER SUMMIT! 1 - Pastors, clergy and spiri tual leaders from all area congregations are invited to gain expertise and learn about resources to help their members who have cancer at “Cancer Summit 2006.” The program begins with a pre-conference work shop, Friday 6-8 p.m. and continues with a full day of programming on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon. The Jimmy Carter National Historic Sites Education Program is a partnership between the Georgia Department of Education, Sumter County Schools and the National Park Service.
