She says, besides tell- ing me to get help, that men are more aggres sive and take more extreme measures to commit suicide. She’s says pills Si Joe Sersey journal Correspondent are a woman’s method of self-murder and as a result, more women survive suicide attempts than men. That’s because men are real men. They use guns. Men who man up don’t care about the mess they’ll make. My psychologist, I mean friend, also says that when women use guns in suicide attempts, they don’t nor mally swallow the barrel as manly men do. Am I the only one who noticed how sports report ers leaped on the Owens Sports "Anybody with half a brain would know that Owens was going to deny any attempt to completely self-destruct." story? The local sports radio station that carries ESPN beat the story to death. Dan Patrick said he was spend ing so much time on Owens because it was an important story. Yo, Dan, to whom? Anybody with half a brain would know that Owens was going to deny any attempt to completely self-destruct. The police reported that when Owens was asked by hospital officials if he inten tionally tried to hurt him self, he said “yes.” Thursday, Owens said that his condition was an acci dent. That’s what my folks said about me. I believed them more than I believe Owens. But I expected that response. I bet he makes an excuse every time he drops a pass. “It was McNabb’s fault. I was thinking about him when Bledsoe threw the ball.” ■ -W> A, ‘ ' •’• ■ • .'■' • *£l; “ TMctr-j Northside runners endure one of the hills on the course. Or when he fails to block downfield. “What, me block? I can’t get attention that way.” Actually, Owens had a press relations woman speak for him. Through her he said that he accidentally over dosed by mixing his pain medication with supple ments and proved his point by saying he emptied his pills into his drawer. Yeah, that’s the first thing I do when I buy Via ... er aspirin. I dump the bottle into a drawer. It makes the pills easier to grab because who doesn’t hate fighting those pesky child-proof bot tles. Owens, man up. You’re embarrassed that you took the sissy way to suicide. Get help or buy a gun. You’re an embarrassment to men everywhere.
