Hansen appointed chairman of
Museum of Aviation national board

Retired U.S. Air Force
General A 1 Hansen has
assumed chairmanship of
the Museum of Aviation
National Board of Advisors,
effective this past Friday.
He replaced the Honorable
Rodney Coleman, former
Assistant Secretary of the Air
Force for Manpower, Reserve
Affairs, Installations and
Environment, who served as
National Board Chairman
since 2001.
The ceremony will take
place at the fall meeting
of the National Board of
Advisors. The 45-member
board is comprised of senior
corporate, business and com
munity leaders who advise
the Museum of Aviation on
funding and development
issues.

in the role of Senior Adviser
to the Board of Directors and

Irene Eaves of Warner Robins was one of six volunteers
who participated in a non-partisan voter education proj
ect on Davis Drive in Warner Robins on Sept. 30. The vol
unteers passed out voter registration forms and sample
ballots for the Nov. 7 general election as well as copies of
proposed amendments.

Heart of Georgia Marching
Band Invitational will be
held Saturday from 9 a.m.-lO
p.m. in McConnell-Talbert
Stadium. The cost is $5
per adult, $3 per child. The
even will be hosted by the
Warner Robins High School
Band Boosters, Inc. As far
as the venue, according to
a release, the boosters have
invited bands from all over
the southeastern part of the
United States to compete
against one another.

Houston County Board
of Education will hold its
monthly meeting Tuesday at
1 p.m. at the board’s central
office building in Perry.
■ WORK SESSION
- The Warner Robins City
Council work session is
scheduled for Oct. 12 at 4
p.m. in the upstairs confer
ence room, Warner Robins
City Hall, 800 Watson Blvd.
■ MEETING - The
Warner Robins City Council
will meet Oct. 16 at 6:30
p.m. in the council chamber,

In 1989, after a 37-year
career, Hansen retired
from the U.S. Air Force as
a four- star general. In
has last assignment, he
was Commander of the Air
Force Logistics Command,
headquartered at Wright-
Patterson Air Force Base in
Dayton, Ohio, with respon
sibility for providing the
logistics resources necessary
to keep USAF units around
the world in a state of readi
ness.
During his six-year term as
National Board Chairman,
Rodney Coleman oversaw
the launching of a Capital
Campaign which has raised
over $6.5 million for new
construction. Following the
National Board meeting on
September 29, as a fitting

ceremonial ground breaking
ceremony for a new World
War II Commemoration
Hangar to be built at the
Museum of Aviation.
The Museum of Aviation is
now the second largest muse
um in the U.S. Air Force with
over 100 aircraft and mis
siles and 114,000 artifacts in
its collection. Since it opened
in 1984, more than 8 mil-,
lion people from around the
world have visited the muse
um which gained national
accreditation last year from
the American Association of
Museums. Seven distinctive
education programs operat
ing at the Museum provide
math, science and humani
ties programs for over 38,000
Pre-K through high school
students each year.

Byron church
hosting health fair

The Peach County Brown
Bag and Health Fair will
be held Oct. 13 at Byron
Baptist Church (the New
Fellowship Hall), located
off Highway 49 and White
Road in Byron.
It is slated to run from
8 a,m.-3 p.m. and include
the following screenings
at, according to a release,
no cost: Blood pressure,
blood sugar levels and total
cholesterol count.
Information available
includes: Services for
seniors, homemakers,
home-delivered meals,
financial assistance
with Medicare prescrip
tion plans, food stamps,
healthy aging, long-term
planning and Medicare
counseling.
