Obituaries
Mrs. Leona Layfield Brown, age 73, of Marshallville, Ga.
pasHed away Sunday evening, Oct. 8, 2006 at her residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, October 13
at the Marshallville City Cemetery at 11 a.m. Rev. Nick
Randall will ofTicate.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 6-8
p.m. at Wilson-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was bom January 11, 1953 to
the late William Thomas Harbuck and Eliza
Jane Johnson Harbuck. She was retired
from First State Bank of Marshallville
and Citizens Bank of Fort Valley. She was
a member of the First Baptist Church of
Marshallville and the first woman to be
vice-president of a bank in the state of
Georgia. She is preceded in death by her
first, husband, Weaver Layfield, and her
second husband, Edgar Brown.
Survivors include her two sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Larry Thomas and Cathy Layfield of Reynolds,
Ga. and Michael and Julie Layfield of Perry, Ga.; one sister,
Betty Jane Chappel of Smithville, Ga.; eight grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to
Marshallville First Baptist Church.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home, Montezuma, Ga. has
charge of funeral arrangements.
WAYNE Q. SINGLETON
WARNER ROBINS - Wayne O. Singleton, 64, passed away
Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday
in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial
will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Singleton was
born in Dublin. Survivors include his son Jason (Lisa)
Singleton of Warner Robins, parents, a brother and two
grandchildren.
Wilbanks suing ex-fiance
LAWRENCEVILLE (AP)
- The “runaway bride,”
who took off days before
her lavish wedding in 2005,
is suing her former fiance
for $500,000, claiming he
defrauded her out of her
share of their assets, includ
ing a ladder, a gold sofa and
gifts.

power of attorney she grant
ed for Mason to handle their
financial affairs.
In addition, she is seek
ing the return of personal
property she claims he has
kept, including the ladder
that belonged to her father,
a gold sofa and wedding
shower gifts.
