LETTERS From page 4A seeks to allow all aliens to vote in “local elections” and advocates allowing aliens to qualify for our welfare pro grams such as social secu rity However, if Congress and the President would stop selling us out, we could do a several things to help solve the problem, First, make it expensive to send money outside of the U. S. if the banking sys tem is not used and, at the same time; make it against the law 1 for illegal aliens to have bank accounts or to conduct banking business. A 20 percent excise tax on money transfers outside the United States performed by non-banking entities, includ ing Post Office money orders, would be a good start. Second, we could also stop the practice of illegal aliens dashing across the border to have babies on our welfare dime and claming welfare for the child while living in Mexico or other countries by requiring compliance with that part of the 14th Amendment which states a person must be “in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United states”. Simply require that chil dren of legal and illegal aliens be required to remain inside U. S. borders through their 18th birthday to become citi zens. Naturally, if the par ent or parents leave or are deported, even from the hos pital, the entire family must go with the alien for the sake of the children. Once outside the jurisdiction of the U. S. for any reason, for any length of time; no citi zenship ... ever! Third, we could require all citizens to be 62 years old or older in order to receive any type of welfare money while living beyond United States borders. Fourth, control the south ern borders - now! The one thing we do not need to do is make illegal aliens felons. As felons, we could not simply deport ille gal aliens from our country; we have to process these people through grand juries, have trials, and feed, clothe Good times at the fair and house them before and after trial. Our court system could not handle the workload and the cost would be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Yet, in the halls of Congress, the Democrat leadership insisted on this course of action and when the law passed, this same leadership publicly and vig orously denounced the very idea of such a program. This is a very serious prob lem and the Democrats are “playing politics” instead of helping to solving solve the problem. Note, one of our own, Jim Marshall, is brag ging about how he voted for this travesty! I guess Jim is very pleased with himself on how he was able to walk to Pelosi’s political farce drum beat without notice. However, I must admit Mac Collins seems to be treading lightly on this issue. Mac, that’s not good enough! Bottom line, any President, including Bush, and any Republican, including McCain, and any Democratic, Is your Attic or Closet SO FULL Donate to Goodwill! Samsung’s interna tional headquarters, located in downtown Seoul, South Korea, lies within the range fan of North Korean FROG-7 type rockets. A North Korean fighter-bomber, flying south from North Korean airspace, will be over Seoul in two to three minutes. Given the destructive effects of conventional artil lery and bombs, North Korea doesn’t need a nuke to wreak havoc on Seoul - which means Kim Jong-Il’s crim inal regime doesn’t really need a nuke to attack Texas’ economy, either. Launch a conventional attack across the Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ), and the global managers and senior staff of a major Texas employer risk becoming immediate casual ties. Meet the 21st century - - at least, the economically, politically and technologi cally linked elements of the 21st century. This linkage explains, in part, why the United States says it regards any military attack on South Korea and Japan as an attack on the United States. This linkage also helps explain China’s aversion to war (especially nuclear war) on the Korean peninsula. South Korea has become a major Chinese trading partner. This is a radical, funda mental change from 1950, when Kim Jong-Il’s father, Kim 11-Sung, began the Korean War. Kim Sr. and China’s Mao were commu nist allies. In 2006, Kim Jr. remains a communist. China, while definitely an authori tarian state, now benefits from trade and markets, which means at some point China’s leaders know North and hear the languages you are offered to expedite your business. I urge all voters to be sure they agree with position of their candidate on this issue. After all, your vote may very well determine the language of your grandchildren or great grandchildren and perhaps, even which Allah is worshiped! Instead of killing thousands with conventional munitions, he can now threaten millions with radioactive devasta tion. With a ballistic mis sile, his reach extends well beyond Seoul. Hence Kim’s nuclear extor tion racket: “Pay me off and guarantee the survival of my impoverished, criminal regime, or I’ll nuke my eco nomic and human hostages and cost all of you more in lives and money than the DAVID OVERTON JEWELERS /\ ‘Jewelry Repair & Cleaning •Watch Repair ‘Engraving Hours; \NSA l / ‘Appraisals Mon.-Fri. ‘Estate Jewelry 9:3oam-s:3opm \ / Sat. \/ ‘Class Rings 9:3oam-2pm 905 Downtown Carroll St. • Perry 478-987-1392 HEA Federal Credit Union has ttheifollowinaivehiclesiforisaleJ Prices are good as of October 12™, 2006' Please call 953-7477 for more information! 1995 Chevrolet Lumina - V 6 $2,800 1995 Chevrolet Cl 500 Pickup Truck - V 8 $6,700 2001 Ford Expedition - V 8 $ 1 2,000, Leather Seats, t ßunning Boards, Sunroof, 2001 Dodge Durango - V 8 $ 1 1,000, 4WD, 3rd Row Seat, Rear Air Conditioning. 2003 Dodge Durango - V 8 $ 1 5,00, Luggage Rack, Running Boards, Low Mileage. 2004 Ford Expedition - V 8 $21,500 Low Mileage * The vehicle:, can be viewed at our office located at 121 Osigion Blvd. in Warner Robins. South Korea’s “sun shine” policy - intended to nudge North Korea toward modernity - has failed. Kim’s July missile volley ended Japan’s policy of pub lic quiescence and private uneasiness. Likewise, U.S. diplomacy, aimed at end ing North Korea’s emerging nuclear threat, has failed. The Clinton administration attempted to buy the nukes with economic carrots, the Bush administration (with its six-nation talks) tried to pry the nukes loose using a diplomatic “squeeze.” Neither gambit worked, because both strategies to be effective relied on steady Chinese cooperation. Which is why the nuke test may boomerang on Pyongyang. Forcing North Korea to kowtow (in the regional par lance) is a way for China to re-establish its political posi tion. But this must be done without resort to war. That suggests a land and maritime embargo of North Korea, with the Hermit Kingdom’s borders hermeti cally sealed. An embargo is the “stick” the Bush admin istration’s “six-nation” diplo macy lacked. Such a coop erative international opera tion might actually “pry the nukes” from Pyongyang. Aj) effective embargo requires a committed China. It’s time for China to demonstrate the political will to protect its own linked economic interests. which gives Ban a global podium.
