Among the many projects made were: clock towers, swings, candy booths, a petting zoo, racetrack and many others. And, according to a release from the school, many of the projects really worked. "They enjoyed displaying their projects and sharing with others at Kings Chapel,” the release read. Local students attend conference Special to the Journal The Middle Georgia Technical College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda was well represented at this year’s National Conference in Nashville, Tenn., recently. Phi Beta Lambda is a nationwide business-based student organization and includes more than 30 col leges from Georgia and hun dreds of colleges from across the nation. More than 1,600 students attended the four-day lead ership and competition con ference held at the Gaylord Opryland resort, and MGTC did not leave empty handed. He finished first at the state competi tion in Atlanta and first at the district competition in Valdosta. At the national competi tion, he beat out students from big colleges like UCLA, University of Florida, and the University of Arkansas and won the National Title in the Sales Presentation Event. Rhonda Hatt, an internet specialist website design student, made the difficult cut to the final 10 from the dozens of submitted entries in website design competi tion, an event that called for the creation of a web site as well as a presentation on the techniques used. Hatt received second place in the competition.
