hold festival
Southside Baptist Church of 1040

Robins is having a Family Fall
Festival Thursday from 6-9 p.m.
According to a release, there will
be food, fun and fellowship for all
ages. There will be also be games,
rides, candy and "great'’ food at rea
sonable prices, the release states, as
well as live entertainment. Costumes
are welcomed. (Please no witches,
devils, ghosts or ghouls).
There is also no admission charge
- only a food donation for a local
community food bank. (Small jars of
peanut butter, jelly, can goods, dry
milk, small bags of flour and sugar

University women to
offer book sale
The Warner Robins Branch of the
American Association of University
Women will hold its 41st annual used
book sale at Houston Mall Oct. 26.
27 and 28. On sale will be tons of
books - from antique to travel.
The sale will open with a sneak
preview from 5-6 p.m, Oct. 26.
Those who attend the $5, one-hour
preview will have the first opportunity
to browse through the books.
There will be no admission charge
during the remainder of the sale from
6-9 p.m., Oct 26; 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.,
Oct. 27; 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Oct. 28.
All books will be half-price on Oct.

In Wednesday's article: “Political
forum offers a bit of all,” it was
reported that HCBOE candidates
Bob Swecker and Kathy Brown were
"not invited.” In fact, they “were”
invited to attend, just not to speak to
the group, necessarily.

employee faces millions of dollars
in fines and five years in prison for
workers’ compensation fraud.
Rufus Edward Hickman was con
victed by a federal jury in Macon,
Tuesday, of nine counts of making
false statements regarding Federal

The verdict was returned after
a two-day trial and approximately
three hours of deliberations, Wood
said. Hickman faces a maximum
possible sentence of five years
imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine

Warner Robins will be selling its
surplus stuff off Nov. 4.
“Stuff” is the operative word.
There’s everything from tables,
chairs, phones, cars, trucks and
even a sink on the lot entitled
“Office Stuff.”

from an investigation conducted by
the United States Air Force and
the United States Department of
Labor - Office of Inspector General.

The city declared the stuff sur
plus at Monday’s meeting as the
items - 461 individual lots - are no
longer needed for public use or have
become unusable for the purpose
intended and it’s in the best inter
est of the city to sell them.
Police catch absconder

Timothy Wayne McClure
was arrested Thursday
morning.
The 33-year-old con
victed sex offender had
absconded from probation,
never actually showing up
once released from prison.
The address he gave the
Department of Corrections
when he got out - 120

according to the warrant
taken out Sept. 29, after
the address was checked on
Sept. 27.
“That happens a lot of
times, they get out and
don’t bother to report,”
said a probation officer
from the Dublin Probation
Office approximately two
weeks ago. “He got out and

Hickman was a civilian employee
at Robins AFB, employed in the area
of materials expediting. In 1987, he
suffered a work-related injury, and
was awarded workers’ compensa
tion.

McClure was one of
those featured in last
Saturday’s Macon Regional
Crimestoppers as well as
the one run weekly in the
Houston Daily Journal.

him in the Oct. 5 newspa
per.
McClure was released
Aug. 2 from the D. Ray
James Correctional Facility
in Folkston after complet
ing a 5-year sentence for a
theft by taking conviction
in Putnam County. That
crime was committed July
13,1996.
