SAVANNAH (AP) - For the second time in two months, President Bush will travel to Georgia to campaign for former Republican congress man Max Burns, considered one of the GOP’s best bets to defeat a House Democrat in November. U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., confirmed Friday that Bush plans to visit Statesboro to stump for Burns at a rally Oct. 30, eight days before the Nov. 7 midterm elections. Burns faces an Election Day rematch with Rep. John Barrow, the Democrat who narrowly defeated him in eastern Georgia’s 12th Congressional District in 2004. The president already headlined a Burns fundrais er near Savannah on Sept. 7 that netted the candidate $385,000. It’s rare for Bush to make a follow-up appear ance with a candidate so soon, Kingston said. Republicans hope to defeat two Georgia Democrats in Congress - Barrow of Savannah and Rep.
