HOJSTON DAILY JOURNAL Ace Hardware celebrating growth By CHARLOTTE PERKINS Journal Staff Writer William Jackson and his brother George come by the hardware business natu rally. Their grandfather and great-grandfather ran fam ily-owned hardware stores that carried a little bit of everything that local farm ers, builders and homeown ers might need. That’s still the case with the Jacksons’ stores today You can buy anything from a cast iron griddle to patio furniture, from lightbulbs to sanders, from bird food to Christmas ornaments at their stores. William Jackson lives in Perry and George Jackson lives in Macon. Together they own five Ace hardware stores, including one on Sam Nunn Blvd. in Perry and one on South Camellia Blvd. in Fort Valley. Two others are on Forsyth Road and Macon Road in Macon, and the fifth, on Riverside Drive in Macon has just opened. That’s cause for a grand opening celebration that will not just be at the new store, but also at all of the Jacksons’ Ace stores this weekend. Here’s how to make the most of the bargains being offered, whether you shop at the Ace in Perry or in Fort Valley. The stores will open for the sale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The first 500 customers to come into either store will get a free flashlight.
