AFCEA recognizes two
science teachers

Two Houston County
teachers were named 2006-
07 Science Teaching Tool
Award winners by the Middle
Georgia Chupterofthe Armed
Forces Communications &
Electronics Association.
Gwen McDade,
Huntington Middle and
Bill Williford, Perry Middle,
each received SI,OOO to use
for their science programs.
The teachers will be hon
ored Oct. 25 during the
monthly AFCEA luncheon
at the Robins Air Force Base
Officers Club.
They gave a short pre
sentation to attendees on
how they plan to spend the
money to enhance their sci
ence program.

Perry Middle student'

Tianna Goodman was
recently selected Perry
Middle School’s Student of
the Month for September.
According to a release
from the school, “Tianna
truly exemplifies what it
means to he a student of the
month. “Academically, she is
a strong student with good
work habits, and she partici
pates frequently in class.”

the baby shoes that were
sold and all donations will
be sent directly to the March
of Dimes.

Houston County High School’s Family, Career and
Community Leaders of America fair booth exhibit
received fourth place in the Georgia National Fair
FCCLA Fair booth competition. The theme of this
year’s competition was “Amplify Your Life.” HCHS
used a 50s theme, complete with ongoing musip from
“Grease,” to illustrate how FCCLA can “amplify your
life.” The advisers of the HCHS FCCLA chapter are
Nelda Clay and Jane Cooper.

Houston County High Family, Career and Community
Leaders of America members Heather Nelson and Ginny
Johnson work on their chapter’s award winning fair
booth exhibit at the recent Georgia National Fair. The
exhibit was a group effort from the inception of the idea
to the creation of the props. The students learned a
great deal about using their resources. Ginny serves the
State FCCLA organization as Vice President of National
Programs.
