2A I ♦ FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2006 73 Houston students named AP scholar Special to the Journal Seventy-three Houston County students recently earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board. Thirty-seven Houston County High students, 10 Northside High students, five Perry High students and twenty-one Warner Robins High students have been recognized by the College Board because of their exceptional achievement on college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams. Students took AP exams in May after completing chal lenging college-level courses at their high schools. AP exams are graded on a five-point scale, with five being the highest for extremely well qualified. Several levels of achieve ment are recognized by the College Board. receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. College credit is awarded to students in accordance with the receiving institu tion’s AP policy. In 2006, 35 exams were offered in a wide variety of subject areas.
