HOUSTON DAILY JOURNAL OBrrs From page $A HERMAN FREDRICK “FRED" KLEIN. JR. PERRY - Herman Fredrick, “Fred” Klein, Jr., 63, died Friday at his home after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services were held Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Perry with Dr. Gene Bowman officiating. Interment followed in Perry Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Saturday at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Elwood Waites, Mike Ratliff, Gary Bishop, Tim Greer, Riley Hunt, Dick Kistler, Ed Barfield and Jon Gavens. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Buice Sunday School Class. Klein was born Dec. 5, 1942 in Pickens County. He was the son of the late Rachel Rowell Klein and Herman Fredrick Klein, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. In 1963, he married Jackie Crowe Klein and moved to Marshallville. In 1965, he moved to Perry to open Perry Brake and Alignment. He subsequently owned Klein-Wall Tire Service and Klein Tire Service. Klein was the owner and president of Klein Properties, Inc. He successfully devel oped real estate projects throughout the southeastern United States and the Florida Gulf Coast, including Tidewater Beach Resort, Emerald Towers West, Island Princess, and Fiddler’s Cove. He directed the devel opment and construction of numerous commercial office buildings, warehouses, restaurants, hotels, and shopping centers in Georgia. He also served as a consultant and devel oper of farmland in the southern US for foreign investment groups. He was also was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunt ing, golf, restoring antique cars, traveling and playing with his grandsons. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perry and the Buice Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jackie Crowe Klein, of Perry; two daughters, Candace Klein Woods and husband Kurtis D. Woods of Macon; and Tiffany Klein Bufmack and husband Benjamin Adam Bufmack of Louisville, Kentucky; and two grandsons, Christopher Klein Woods and Candler Kurtis Woods, both of Macon. Other survivors include his brother, Clifton Eugene Klein, and sister, Lannell Klein Buice; several nieces and nephews.
