Tybee man accused
of stalking Womack
SAVANNAH (MNS)
- Country music star Lee
Ann Womack slapped a tem
porary protective order on
a Tybee Island man in an
attempt to keep him away
from her at Monday night’s
Country Music Association
Awards.
Womack, who won album
and single of the year in the
2005 ceremony, claims Mark
Borer of Tybrisa Road has
been stalking her for the
past year.
She hired two Savannah
attorneys, W. Dow Bonds
and Ashleigh Madison, to
force Borer to stay away
from her. In a petition filed
Friday in Chatham County
Superior Court, they claim
Borer, 36, appeared outside
Womack’s parents’ house in
Jacksonville, Texas, while
she was visiting in November
2005.
Rape victim fatally
stabs attacker
BALL GROUND (AP) - A
woman who was raped and
beaten by an old acquain
tance fought back, stabbing
her attacker to death when
he threatened to rape her
6-year-old daughter.
Deputies arrived at the
woman’s Cherokee County
home Sunday night to find
Gerald A. Lee, 38, lying dead
in the backyard. The woman,
whose name is being with
held because she was the
victim of a sexual assault,
told police Lee broke into the
house wearing a ski mask
and carrying a shotgun.
Capt. Ron Hunton with the
Cherokee County Police said
Lee beat the woman with
the gun and raped her, then
told her that he would move
on to her daughter next.
He had locked the daughter
in the closet of the room
where he raped the woman.
When Lee began rummaging
through the woman’s purse,
she ran to the kitchen and

SUMMERVILLE <AP) -
The body of a newborn was
left by dogs in the yard of
a home near the Chatooga-

said Monday. The baby boy
was discovered about 9 a.m.
by an unidentified home

“We feel like it was less
than 24 hours from the time

Kellett said.
Coroner Earle Rainwater
would not speculate on the
cause of death, saying he
would leave that to the med
