The truck has five Stihl weed eaters, three SCAG walk behind zero turn mowers (at $4,000 each), a Stihl blower, exterior fuel tanks on the truck for the equipment as The White Columns Homeowners Association would like to congratu late John and Sharon Hughes (pictured), of 108 Weatherspoon Place, for receiving the Yard of the Month for the month of September. Kersey has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, Kersey studied the Air Force mission, organiza tion, and military customs well as rakes, shovels, bags and such. Both the city and county approved an intergovern mental agreement to pay for the truck, equipment and the salary of a guard for a prison work detail for main tenance of Houston Lake Road and Russell Parkway rights of way. The detail will work 10 hours a day, four days a week Monday through Thursday, weather and holidays per mitting. The cost of the salary of the corrections officer assigned to detainee work is $31,250. es, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associ ate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Robby and Ladonna Kersey of Marshallville Road, Perry. The symposium last ed two days and covered 39 sessions, focusing on things such as: The value of Timely Accurate Data Reporting, Public and Private Partnering Plan, Several Feasibility Studies, Expeditionary Air Field Resources abd Fuel Support Equipment to name just a few. Following is the reactions from some of those who participated: Charles Minter of Cimarron Inc., a soft ware engineering firm for Command and Control type programs, Houston, Texas. “This is my first time at this symposium, but I can already see the importance of this kind of environment. The ability to talk with industry leaders, exchange guidelines and develop environmental information, is a plus for all companies represented here.” Minter went on to say his company was particularly interested in the sustainment efforts at a time. A live nativ ity scene, children’s choir performance and refresh ments are planned at Perry United Methodist Church. On Dec. 8 at 8 p.m., the Perry Players will pres ent Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” On Dec. 9, historic trol ley rides will start at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., and there will be a matinee of “A Christmas Carol.” Downtown restau rants will have pre-theatre menus available for dining before the show.
