She supervises employees and supports the school cur riculum with the mini-lessons that she teaches to individual classes. In addition, she pre pares food for special events such as Grandparent’s Day, Honoifßoll Receptions, Citizen of the Week Celebrations and Field Day. As Tucker’s Employee of the Month of October, Jones received a month of free tan ning from Sun Seekers, an apple pie from Kroger, towels from Impressions and a free massage from Season’s Spa. Tucker wishes to thank all of its business partners for their support of the Employee of the Month program. During her visit, “Polly” shared with the students what it was like to travel on the Mayflower and settle in a new world. In a release from Perry Primary: “We are thankful to ‘Polly Pilgrim’ for coming and sharing with the students of Perry Primary during this special Thanksgiving holiday time. Jordon told her story to the kindergarten classes taught by Melanie Shellong and Debbie Dickens. Mercer honors local students Special to the Journal Mercer University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences recognized several Warner Robins resi dents during the college’s honors luncheon held Oct. 17 in Atlanta. Kendra R. Roundtree, a fourth-year pharmacy stu dent, received a Dean’s Scholarship award during the ceremony. Juliet G. Lima, a third-year pharmacy student, received an Elizabeth A. and Thomas B. Perkins Scholarship and a Dean’s Scholarship award. Michael R. Clark Jr., a sec ond-year pharmacy student, received a Phi Delta Chi Scholarship and a Dean’s Scholarship award. Mercer University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has, accord ing to a release, a “century long tradition of excellence and a national reputation for producing outstanding leaders in the profession of pharmacy.” In September 1981, the College became the first pharmacy school in the Southeast and fifth in the nation to offer the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) as its sole professional degree. The College also offers the Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences. Pharmacists from Mercer are currently practicing in 43 states and in several for eign countries. Previously known as Southern School of Pharmacy, the college changed its name in July 2006 to better reflect addi tional health science offer ings. Beginning in January 2008, the college will begin offering a master of medi cal science degree as part of its new physician assistant program. To that end, teachers decorated the gym with trees, tents, sleeping bags, camp chairs and even a “pretend” campfire. Families (pictured) were also invited to spend the evening reading together.
