ALBANY (AP) - The
first few people in line at
the Circuit City camped all
night just to get the best
post-Thanksgiving holiday
bargains.
Cheryl Haley, 37, said she
was there for one purpose.
“This the only thing on
my little boy’s list,” said
Haley, who arrived at 4 p.m.
Thursday, pointing to the
store circular advertising a
$299 laptop. “I couldn’t pay
SBOO for it.”
She and her sister, Wendy
Blount, 35, of nearby Lee
County, argued over who
earned the spot at the head
of the line.
“I drove her here, so I’m
first,” Blount said.
They were part of the 300
people lined up outside the
store when the doors opened
at 5 a.m. When the doors
opened, shoppers rushed
into the store, which was
piled high with boxes of LCD
computer monitors, DVDs
and flat-screen televisions.
Eric Gordon, 30, of Albany,
arrived half an hour before
the store opened _ far too
late to get one of the limited
number of bargain comput
ers.
“What ... was I thinking?”
he said, noting it was his
first Black Friday shopping
experience. “I should have
stayed in bed and shopped
online.”
In Atlanta, other shop
pers arrived at stores early
to take advantage of post-
Thanksgiving sales.
Darcey Fernandez, 25, of
Gainesville, Fla., had been
in line at a Best Buy store
since 11:30 p.m. Thursday to
get a $379 laptop and a 42-
inch Panasonic TV for $999.

BONAIRE - Pierce Pollett, 84, passed away Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bonaire
United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Bonaire
Cemetery. Pollett was born in Johnson County. His son and
five siblings preceded him in death. Survivors include his
wife Mary Ella Pollett of Bonaire and son Ted Pollett, two
grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Holiday shoppers arrive early
line, she was about to get
the plasma TV - the only
thing left.
“We were all there talking
and sombody got in front of
the line in the last 15 min
utes, so it got pretty tense,”
she said.
At a nearby Toys R Us,
three sisters-in-law in
matching red sweat shirts
were about halfway done on
a shopping spree that start
ed at 4 a.m. with Circuit City
and Target.
“This is our 12th year
doing it,” said Lidia Camp, of
Naples, Fla., as they stuffed
their SUV with Playstation
games and Game Boys.
Kelly Kashman had also
woken up at 4 a.m. and was
trying to fit a rocking chair
and a big robot from Toys
R Us in her SUV part of the
$5,000 she plans to spend
on holiday gifts. She looked
cheerfully at the unusually
calm mall parking lot, saying
her strategy to drive up from
Stockbridge, to this upscale
Atlanta neighborhood had
worked.
