Tim Kyser at the edge of the
end zone. Devon Pike, per
fect all night on PAT kicks,
upped the Eagle lead to 21-
3.
Brunswick had one other
fumble in the quarter, drop
ping the kickoff return to the
Eagles on the 33. Northside
did not get points on this one
as the second period began.
The Eagles had three
turnovers of their own in
the game, but able to steal
possession right back after
two of them. Northside fum
bled a punt return on its 32,
but Mitchell Bell not only
intercepted Dixon on the
first snap, but had a 25-yard
return to midfield.
Green brushed off two
tackling attempts on a trap
run to the Brunswick 13.
Pike took the field for a 33-
yard field goal try of his own,
and put the ball through at
4:33 for a 24-3 lead.
The Pirates and Sasser
matched that field goal after
the second Eagle fumble on
the NS 45. On the ninth
play of the drive, and with
seven seconds until half
time, Sasser was good from
25 yards out (24-6).
It was a tremendous first
half for Northside’s interior
defensive linemen, Damon
Lopez and Abry Jones.

Brunswick caught the first
break of the second half
with an interception on its 6
and return to the 30. Dixon
found Williams on 3rd and
10 over the middle for 29
yards to the Eagle 41. Dixon
next fired for the end zone,
but Charles McKenzie won
the 1-on-l coverage battle.
At first, the intercep
tion was ruled a touchback,
but another official said
McKenzie had possession on
the 1-yard-line.
Northside was unfazed,
though, as what followed
was a 14-play drive with
four first downs. Rodrigues
made the key catch on 3rd
and-11 for 18 yards at the
Pirate 35.
Ivory, whether he was fak
ing a handoff or not, did
his own running for lst-and
goal on the 7. He was shaken
up some on that play, so
Rodrigues, last year’s quar
terback, took the remaining
snaps of the series. It was on
fourth down from the 1 that

Green broke the plane for
his third touchdown at 1:14
of the quarter.
Brunswick had two three
and-out series afterwards,
while Ivory returned to the
action to lead a 47-yard scor
ing drive in the fourth quar
ter. His second touchdown
pass was a five-yard shuffle
inside to Nick Bass with
7:53 left to play.
Ivory was 7-for-12 pacing
for 92 yards. Northside also
got some running help from
Xavier Hawkins and his 65
yards on four totes.
The Pirates made the final
score closer, 38-13, as Wesley
Smith caught a nine-yard
touchdown pass from Dixon
with less than 20 seconds
remaining.
